i picked up a package of goodies from glorious freedomland. i picked up rehband elbow sleeves, slingshot elbow bands, and a slingshot. i used the slingshot elbow bands and i benched for the first time in a month and a half pain free biggrin.gif i have never been so happy to bench 135x5x5 in my life. i felt like a complete beta but good lord was it ever nice to do some actual pressing instead of endless sets of flyes, pullovers, and crossovers. yuck.

Nice to hear Jarude. Really hope you can start crushing dem heavy weight soon again.

Speaking of injuries and bad squat form, an old problem is creeping up again. My hip shifts laterally to the left when I get out of the hole. Its a significant shift and it makes my left knee cave in.

My left leg is shorter than the other, so that could def be a cause. I also have worse external rotation in my left hip, which could explain why that knee buckle inwards.

I'm gonna see a sports physio and a chiro to see what they say. Also thinking about incorporating some new lifts that could solve the issue. They would be: slow tempo pause squats to work on technique, sumo deadlift to get more hip strength, and some unilateral leg stuff to even out a potential strength imbalance.

Do you guys know anything related to this? Maybe you, Coldnap?

It's funny... I'm a big supporter of SS, but I ran into that same issue. What I read in the book never translated in his videos. I also was never able to squat like he instructs, but the book itself, the program itself, I think is great. Helped me over a number of hurdles.

Was in weightlifting class today and had something funny/cool happen. Had a silent squat competition with the guy next to me. Wasn't even my leg day, but we both kinda smirked each time we put on more plates, both walking around the gym for 45s. Ended up going to 335 for so before I started dropping reps. Ended with a grin and that was it. Felt pretty good since I haven't really squat that much (including front squat) sets in awhile. Maybe me miss the 3x squat weeks over the once a week of 5/3/1.

I learned from SS too. At the end of the day you're responsible for your progress and body composition, not some ebook online. I had a really easy time moving away from the SS type squat, It was probably the most effortless thing I've done in the gym. Right when I brought on Greg and Travis Mash wrote that article that made me seek some tips from him.

I haven't seen anything related to leg length, that's interesting. But lateral movement at the bottom and poor external rotation gives some clues. You're def on the right track with pause squats and unilateral work. Eric Cressey has some really great hip capsule external rotation mobs that I've seen a lot of progress using.

rotflmao.gif @ SS

Rip's form kind of sucks because he is all femur

Which makes his emphasis on squatting that much weirder

I have my wife on a somewhat similar program... aside from the fat gain hoping for similar results

Just a grin? No reach around?

I think Rip gets a lot of shit because he's out there so much, and also because he acts like such an authority on the subject. Granted, he is an authority, and I totally understand why he's so convinced he's 100% correct on everything - that's what happens when you dedicate so much of your life to something - but I also get the hate.

Benched 215 today, so it's still going up. Skipped squats because of the damn knee, gonna put a heat pad on it all night and see if that helps. I don't think I'll hit 1000 lbs but I'll probably break 200 lbs bodyweight. So excited to take naked pictures for you guys so you can tell me I look skinny as fuck and like I made no progress whatsoever. foo.gif

Just saw this post, those white Adipowers are so pretty, though waiting till June to cop squatting shoes just because I like the color seems kind of silly : /

Wonder if you can preoder them.

Same thing here. Thought of all the same crazy reasons why it was happening. Turned out I was just losing back tightness when the weight got heavy and the weight was just getting pitched forward (more so on one side) out of the hole.

Has anyone else experienced having to piss a lot on a cut. My water intake has always been at least 80oz a day, I peed accordingly but nothing crazy. Ever since cutting I've been pissing like crazy, especially after my large post work out meal. Which is kind of annoying cause I go to sleep a few hours after that.
