If nothing else, plate trees on only one side of the rack (and shared between two racks at that) would annoy the shit out of me. Otherwise, no clue smile.gif

ding ding fucking ding. the plate trees are bolted down in between each rack, which doesnt seem so bad until you realize they are positioned midway between each upright. given how close each rack is to the next , this means that you cannot actually do anything in the rack without the bar hitting the plate tree. can't squat, can't bench. could barely shrug and rack pull, having about 6 inches of clearance between the upright and the space occupied by the plate tree.

the best part was when i told the trainer supervising the facility about it. she insisted that i was wrong and i could mount the pins on the outside of the rack, until i realized she was talking about the j-hooks. when i told her this, she informed me that the space inside the rack was actually for storing the bench while people were squatting, and that the actual pins were just there for support. the inside of the squat rack was not actually used for squatting, duh. silly me.

i am actually fucking infuriated at how fucking stupid this entire situation is censored.gifcensored.gifcensored.gif

Well I wasn't totally right, but lol at her response. So fucking stupid. Why bother buying a rack if you dont even instead to use it as a safety device. Just use those stands oly lifters use. This is actually the same reason my plates are on the floor, no room otherwise with normal trees. You should print some pictures of a rack beong used properly to show her.

seriously. or buy a wall rig for half of the cost of buying individual squat racks if all you want is for people to be able to do squats and pullups in a class format.

ultimately its a wash for them because they only do circuit-training classes. i had to petition them repeatedly to even be allowed to access the weight room during specialized "open lift sessions," so 99.5% of their income is coming from people who will never squat more than 95lb. ugh... i was so excited about this place too.

trigger points be insane. I've been able to pop my left big toe like crazy for about 4 months. Sometimes when I'm watching shit on the TV I just sit there and pop my toe because it's funny. I was bored tonight and took a lacross ball to my plantar fascia and realized I was super tender there, now my toe doesn't pop anymore.

Some observations about my new gym...

1) Floor space is literally 70% cardio equipment with weights just filling the border around it. Everyone on the treadmills was walking. I guess I really shouldn't be surprised here, but the imbalance was a bit off-putting.
2) The women are sad. They range from skinny-fat to whale. The local Life Fitness, in contrast, was hnnngggg. Again, no surprise.
3) I saw only two people that look like they lift. They also look like they skip leg day. They don't have a choice really.

Things that surprised me...

3) There are literally no free barbells. I know there are no racks of any type, but I at least expected olympic benches. Nope.
4) There are precisely zero places to do unassisted pull ups. Seriously?

The atmosphere was also pretty dead, but again to be expected. The purple and "you belong" plastered on every machine is sickening. They have an entire section (~1/5 of all lifting equipment) dedicated to abs! Lol... they sure do feed on ignorance. Everything you've read online is true, the place is a joke. With that said, I can't buy and maintain a commercial treadmill for <$10/month, so it's still good for what I intended it for.

Fuck lever belts. I sheeted the prongs off a lever belt yesterday without even going towards my 1rm. I could have gotten fucked up if I was using heavy weights. I quickly bought a decent belt so I'm not stalled out but will definitely be investing in an inzer belt soon. Fucking piece of shit lever belts.

Bestbelts.net

Got my belt here, the athlete belt. They customize the belt to your measurements. If you gain/lose weight, it will still fit. Unlike some people who are on between M/L in other belts and the belt doesn't fit after weight fluctuation. The belt comes broken in, unlike the cement Inzer that you must run over with a car. I will gladly support a smaller US establishment too. Oh, no waiting weeks and weeks either. My single prong black belt came in under two weeks.

Managed 1x5, 1x2 on 350 squat yesterday. Some dudes wanted to squat so I let them work in, one of them starts trying to spot me at the end of the first set. On a fucking squat, a spontaneous spot. WTFFF. Luckily he didn't touch the bar as I was coming up. For my second set I informed them that I was planning on going to failure and didn't need a spot. They each decide that means they need to get on different sides of the rack so they can properly spot me.

What the fuck

Unrustled my jimmies by hitting up all you can eat sushi buffet for a PWO meal. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

That happened to me once, except the guy actually grabbed my chest. WTF? People have never seen someone grind out a squat?

They're regulars too. One of the dudes after I was done lifting passive-aggressively accused me of stealing the 2.5 lb plates I have. The gym manager gave them to me. Fucking dumb shits, this is why I never converse at the gym

Def interesting hearing your thoughts on Planet Fitness. I've always wanted an account just for free pizza every monday, do they still do this?

Why don't you just run outside though? You get that vitamin D to help test levels, also sun helps you sleep better, it's a way better environment than being crammed up in a purple gym, and you it's entertaining to watch shit while you run.
