i figure i may as well try to lose some fat; im probably going to lose a shit ton of muscle too, but i dont see the point in eating at or above maintenance if i can't lift. i find it difficult to stick to any kind of diet if im not being active, so im terrified that i might actually have to start running or some other bullshit

Was off three months this summer. Sucked. Had to eat way low to not fatten up. Also, though, had time for soccer 3-4x a week which was awesome. Got back in gym and in 4 months or so am moving more weight than ever before.

Can't you find a calisthenics program?

until it stops hurting. took a week off, was feeling better with some days being better than others, but then i played hockey and loosely gripping my stick for an hour made it feel like hell again. so... probably going to be at least a month? i dunno.

its not nerve entrapment either, flossing did nothing for it. a massage kind of helped, same with static stretching

doesn't matter if its freeweight movements or calisthenics. i've found out that just using it for literally just about anything makes it suck in some way; pullups, chins, and dips are out. dont know what's left

Oh wait forgot it's because of your injury.

Please tell me you saw a doctor about it?

yes. "just stop working out for awhile itll feel better. its just a muscle strain and thats why it feels tight on your elbow. here lets schedule an ultrasound a month from now. thanks bye"

i mean he's not incorrect in the sense that i need to take time off because literally anything i do makes it suck, still frustrating though.

What kind of a doctor was it? Someone involved in sports medicine or physical medicine I hope?

even with a referral, that shit costs money and/or needs to be covered under benefits, which i dont have right now. so no, just a useless gp.

PCPs are so fucking horribly trained at handling musculoskeletal injuries and caring for young, active people in general. The only thing they feel comfortable prescribing is activity modification, which is a bitch for anyone who is an athlete. There's so many great treatment modalities out there that are underutilized. That's the exact reason I'm going into Physical Medicine and Rehab.

iham and I had a sick workout this morning, dude is a beast, have never seen anyone move that much weight in person. Also, I think he singlehandedly fixed my squat issues, did like 3x6-8x225 with relatively ease, after having a hard time with 5x5x185 last session. Good shit.

And since you all doubted, here is the man rowing 315lbs, mind you this was after both squats and deads.

and here is my 1RM attempt with 325, form kinda slopped out, but wtvr, expected on a 1RM I think.

seriously. i feel like they all have the mentality of "what the fuck is this otherwise healthy young guy doing in my fucking office complaining about an owie-boo-boo on his arm?" i've received more pertinent information about every injury i've ever had from my old RMT ffs.

thats a righteous path. im toying with the idea of taking on huge amounts of debt and setting my life back 10 years to get into physiotherapy since i realize how much of an impact it has on people. i go nutty if i cant lift or stay active and to be held back by something as fucking stupid as an injury is maddening.

you should be really happy with your progress thus far, good job. took me way too long to get through what you are doing right now.

Jarude sucks that you're gonna be out for awhile like that. You can't even do lower body at all?

Thanks for the compliment man. I am really happy with my progress, considering I have not even been lifting for a full year (that'll be Feb.)

We tested maxes, and I got 225 on the bench, that 325 deadlift, and did not push for a max on squat because i'm still figuring it out, but at least I got form down now.

awesome stuff man. keep on keepin' on

yeah no i cant do any lower body really. squats strain the elbow, can't grip dumbbells, etc. straps helped but i still felt worse for wear after the fact.

Could do front squats with a cross grip? Shouldnt put any strain on your elbow.
