based on this i think i should start working in box squats or more paused squats. coming out of the hole is somewhat dicey as you can see on the 400 and 385.

then i was playing hockey later on and i was in the fuckin' zone robbing bitches until i started getting chest pains, my pulse jumped to like 2000 bpm and started blacking out/seeing stars. not sure if poorly conditioned or didn't hydrate enough.

Good video today by Mark Bell on the skwaat.

Some ideas: Mobilize for ~10 minutes before getting in the rack.
Stay warm.
Warm-up more, do 10 x 10 with just the bar (a little excessive for most of us I think) and sit in the hole and move around to work the kinks out.
Do assistance work.

doing bar work is good for a lot of things. particularly for overhead stuff, getting comfortable under the bar and shit like that. very useful and often overlooked.

Looks good IMO.

BTW that's not what I expected you to look like at all.

Form looks good Jarude.

Kinda hard to tell the bar path from that angle, but it looks like you manage to avoid leaning forward when it gets though. Thats one of my problems at least.

You're going well below parallell too. If you cut the ROM a bit higher, maybe you could get that 400.

Those are the Power Lift 1's, right? How do you like them?

Do you like a heel even for low bar squatting? There seems to be very conflicting views on this. Your stance is narrower than mine though, so it would probably feel different for me.

Charly and Fuji: iirc, you guys are using squat shoes with wide stance? what shoes are you using and how do you like a heel in comparison to flat shoes like chucks?

I have since brought my stance in very narrow and now squat atg and high bar, also started pulling conventional. Not very any real reason, just thought it'd be fun. I use rogue do wins and I will never go back to flat soles for any kind of squat.

I brought in my stance a bit too but it still qualifies as a wide stance.

most people that don't like low bar squatting with a heel seem to think so because it makes them lean too much forward and not sit back as much. You haven't experienced this?

My quads are a bit underdeveloped and I barely feel them in the squat so I think squat shoes would help me with that.

Yep, still use oly shoes (Rogue Dowins).

I like them much better to something like chucks.

Allows me to shift my center of gravity back a bit more and it's easier to hit depth.

Actually I find they let me sit further back and stay more upright.

Interesting. This goes right against what I've heard but I trust you guys on this. I imagine squat shoes being more stable so you would have more control of where you end up in the hole. More upright torso would solve my issue of leaning too much forward.

Most likely gonna buy a pair of power lift 2 in the coming weeks.
