There can be if your goal is to lift max weight without wraps. to be honest, for the sake of your joints and etc I think the benefits outweigh the cons, as long as you're not wrapping as a crutch.

also pretty fucking sure you never even saw dimas warmup so there's that too.
I've seen it used to train the jump for athletic purposes. Throwers, football players, and athletes of that sort. Never seen any real Olympic guys do it though.
