Idk bone remodels according to stress idk if dls and squats cause the pelvis to remodel more outwardly or not but its definitely true that bones adjust their size based on tension lines

My legs shrunk 2" around during my cut when I dropped from 14-15% to 7-8% bf. Do not drop squats and DL. Bulk this fall and winter out and cut in march.

Running 5/3/1 BBB at 130lbs 5'6", trying to bulk up. Question for those running 5/3/1 how often do you guys beat your calculated rep maxes when doing the last set? Seems like I can beat my DL every week but OHP, Squat and Bench aren't improving that much. Also yes I'm pretty frail.

1RM
Squat - 227lbs
DL - 280lbs
Bench - 170lbs
OHP - 111lbs

Wrote my workout for this week tonight, if anyone gives a shit what my brogramming looks like. 7 weeks out from meet. I've decided I'm not going to do a taper, just going to continue with my written plan and on the week of meet I'm just going to do my openers.

Monday
Squat 2x5, 1x5+
Neutral Grip Press 3 x 5
Incline Bench 3 x 10
Lat Pulldown 3 x 10
Closed Gip Lat Pulldown 3 x 10
One Arm Cross Cable Lat Raises 3 x 12

Tuesday
Bench 2x5, 1x5+
Deadlift 1x5+
Safety Squat Bar GMs 3 x 8
Chest Supported Rows 3 x 8

Friday

5+ day I'd aim to get 10, 3+ day I'd aim to get 6, 1+ day I'd aim to get 3. If I didn't get close to that I would consider a reset. I think 5/3/1 is at it's most effectiveness when lifting sub maximal weights for highish reps consistently over time. Just my opinion though. Boring but big worked well for me, just eat a lot.

SSB is definitely on my short list of things to buy.

Starting to question the timing of my bulk frown.gif Visiting home at the end of the year, which should coincide with end of my bulk, meaning I'll be seeing everyone at the fattest I've been in quite some time.... not sure I want to do that.

5+ day is usually the problem I only hit 7-8 on OHP, Squat and Bench. 3+ day I can hit 6 and 1+ day I can hit 3+ so I'm not sure if I should reset. Do you guys do the deload week every single cycle? I've been doing it every 2-3 cycles, maybe that's the problem.

It's really nice thing to have. Goodmornings with it are brutal with it and it gives me the exact same feeling I get when trying to lock out a max deadlift, so I feel like it's helped a lot. Something has helped at least, I keep pulling 5 rep PRs week after week on deadlift and I've cut my deadlift work by like 80%. Only pull one set on Wednesday and call it a day for that.

That sounds fine to me, Boring But Big will really help out your 5+ days. At least it did for me. I deloaded after every hindsight, if youre lifestyle doesn't allow you the luxury of recovering really fast I would do that.

Alright thanks for the advice, I'll probably start deloading every cycle now.

Also I'm not sure if this has been posted but this dude is strong.

No prob. Try it out, if you feel fresher than keep doing it. If you feel like you are already recovered and it's redundant than skip a deload. It's really good in preventing over use injuries though.

Coldsnap- I'm doing exactly what you are for dead lifts; 5rm PR's each week and on....Wednesdays too.....

Pulled my oblique or something during my squats today; stretched once I got home and feels good now hopefully nothing bad happens.
