Just curious. I feel like I'm getting decent quad development. Most noticeable for me has been back, quads, triceps. Maybe it's genetics.

i've always had weak quads and my low bar squat was especially hammy dominant, even for a rippetoe squat.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing in terms of general athleticism but it does mean I have to go right back to the drawing board to learn the classical olympic lifts. My high bar squat is far, far weaker than my low bar.

Great looking squat, Jarude. Looks very explosive with a good hard lockout at the top. My max effort squats are real grinders in comparison. You've always been able to maintain that speed during your ME squats or is it something that develops over time? I think my lack of explosiveness might limit me a bit. Anything i can do to get better at it?

What compression shorts you using? Been trying the Nike ones, the longer pro version and the normal ones but they keep riding up when I tried some air squats. The general consensus on sizing compression shorts? Read that some people wants them super tight and some that wear them a bit looser.

thanks man. the speed is definitely something i've had to develop... i do paused squats afterwards as assistance and then speed work where i'm focusing entirely on forceful acceleration out of the hole. the paused work has really helped me out in that respect; in terms of mental cues, instead of fighting the weight all the way up, i think about creating momentum to push me through the ROM and then simply staying tight throughout to support the bar through said ROM. if i don't get a good boost out of the hole the lift is much, much more difficult.

i'm using the pro combats... i *think* the longer ones? i seem to remember 9" but i could be wrong; they stop just above the knee. i like having them super tight; i wear an XL with a thigh measurement of 24", 17" above the knee, and 36" around the hips. hope this helps.

5x5x155 squat, went up nice and easy smile.gif Love this new pain free squatting, deload definitely going to pay off soon.
3x5x95,4x95,9x70 ohp
2x5x255 deadlift
5xbw+20,4xbw+20,4xbw+15 wide grip dead hang pull-ups

I ended up buying the lpg ez dip belt. Overpriced? Maybe, but it's really comfortable and easy to load. You could definitely just buy a hook to stick on your current belt cheaper, but for the $30 jump in price it was worth the convenience since I didn't already have a belt. I'm definitely pleased with it. Given that I have IM dumbbells up to 120, I don't think I'll be needing something more for a long time.

Naw. If I don't match I could do transitional year, fulfill my obligation, then do civilian residency though. Might be what ends up happening since there's like 35 people competing for 19 slots.

Having your own grills rocks icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif Just put back a pound of steak, more left for later.

Now if only I could take a nap instead of going to work...

I'm back. Peekskille fucking sucked, there's like zero restaurants around there, ended up eating at the same damn places. Went to NYSC in downtown White Plains which is a pretty awesome gym. Back on the grind tonight and I can't fucking wait. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Saw some poor string bean of a kid bonk himself in the head this morning while doing dumbbell overhead presses, looked like he had tears in his eyes.

thats what you get for not checking your ego at the door and neglecting form for higher weight. he deserved it but i still kinda felt bad.

That's gonna be me in 4 hours. Pretty sure I'm going to fail this over head press set. With that attitude I'll def fail it.. so I'll try to go into it more positive, but still it will be a miracle if I do.

I started doing overhead presses for the first time and I was struggling with 115 lb , which is frustrating because I can easily o dumbbell military press with 70 lb dumbbells. Is it because I've never done it before or do people generally dumbbell military press less than ohp?
