Gratz Canadian brah. Are you aiming 275 by December 31 2013 or do you want it during 2014? You may want to stay realistic if you want it by the end of the year. 50lbs on your bench within 4 months is not that easy if you wish to stay at your weight range.

yeah rips like that are mostly avoided by

gripping the right way and
taking care of your hands

as in shave the calluses down every week or so, that way they'll never rip or annoy you in any way.

Turns out that weight gain awhile back was just a bulk phase.

Thanks smile.gif yep, Dec 31 is pretty unrealistic. still going to push hard for it though; I'm fatting up nicely and hope to get it sometime around spring. given I keep eating enough I think it should be attainable. How long did it take you to get 225-275?

Was rough until I found what worked for me. Maybe 6-8 months? I really don't remember, would have to check my logs. Bench was always rough for me though.

Putting on weight and benching more was easily one of the best tips I followed. Never had a coach or a partner so learning by yourself is definitely slower. Hopefully John can help you get there icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif Spring seems reasonable.

Moisture aka sweaty palms can rip you pretty good. Chalk it up. Only time I've had it happen was learning kipping pullups (don't judge me) haha.

My bench is pathetic right now. Pair that with my rotatory cuff injury that is FINALLY showing some signs of healing I'm struggling to even complete 185 for reps. feelsbadman

Jeans feeling a bit tight... not sure if I'm getting quads or just getting fat smile.gif Will be screwed once I actually do get bigger legs since I pretty much only wear slim jeans every day.

I gave away 10 pairs of $200+ trousers to my brother on the weekend.

I'm wearing my old labouring jean shorts for 6 months until I reach my goal.

It's not permanent, but it's actually kinda relieving to not care about clothes for a while.

Ugh almost fuckin blew my lid after my squat today. Did a weight PR for 2 x 5, 1 x 8, never even squatted this weight for a single. Powerlifting workout buddy said my back and depth looked very good. Then had the gym owner and a hack of a chiropractor tell me I'm going to hurt my back squatting "like that" (low bar). And that I need to squat "like this" (high bar) and stay more upright. Gym owner has told me this like 4x before and doesn't know what a low bar squat is (somehow yet this blows my mind), I usually just go nod[1].gif. But after being so happy about my PR then have these two guys shit on my parade I felt like telling him to never give me advice on squat again. But alas I just sat there. I mean I've been powerlifting for under a year and I'm out squatting every bodybuilder in there and people who have been there 20+ years, so that should speak for itself. Also my back feels fucking fantastic. livejournal rant sorry.
