Fucking hell I hate squats....jk just failing badly at them ever since I had a week off.......

Upper back is weak and falls forward on last set of squats; going to do some 6ish rep heavy DB rows at home at least 3 times a week. Any other reccommendations to get my upper back 'back' on track :)

I met somebody who got 272 on her step 1 and got a plastic surgery residency at UCSF.

Ya one of the users here introduced me to a guy in the 270s range.

Heck spend enough time on SDN, you will start to think people only get 260+ biggrin.gif

Woo figured out the secret for me to squatting all the way to parallel icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Needed to bring the feet in closer and point toes out more. Feet wide caused sharp pains in the hip joints well before getting to parallel. Opening my hips by pointing my toes out more gave me the last couple inches I needed. Will continue to stretch and do mob work to try to loosen my hips and slowly bring the toes back in. I know kstar isn't a huge fan of toes way out, mine are probably 35-45 degrees now. Can't believe I didn't take the time to figure this out sooner.

5x5x150 squat, deloaded to really focus on depth. Was just as challenging as 170 last time even being just within a couple inches of parallel.

3x5x145, 4x145, 5x140 bench

5x5x145 pendlay row, getting some pain in front of my shoulders at the very bottom of the rep, any thoughts?

2x5,1x4 bw+15 dead hang pull-up, 3x12 weight abs

bench lockout day today. was doing 2board bench, loaded the bar unevenly and my setup was all wonky and had a shitty set even though i got the reps. got pretty mad and said fine then, i'll +10 from last week. that went up really easy so i said what the hell, i'm going to attempt 2 plates for a single. that went up x5, so i did 1board. that went up x3, so i did regular bench. did 2 paused singles at 225 and a touch n go at 235. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif fucking finally, after years of dicking around and hurting my shoulder repeatedly i have a 2 plate bench. its taken me entirely too fucking long and i made a shit ton of mistakes along the way but coming from being a 140lb kid who could only bench the bar x 5 when he started, im pretty happy. im also now entirely unsatisfied with a 225 bench and am going to aim for 275 by 2014. time to keep doing shit right.

then after the max singles and triple after my regular 2x5 worksets, all of my assistance work went up. i came into the session feeling hungry and shitty too. yay training feels, goes to show that even when you think you're working hard and doing everything right... you can probably work harder.

I know Cross Fit gets no love on here, but I'm spending my afternoon at a Games team competition. Saw two guys cleaning 300+ but otherwise kinda boring. Don't really care about how many burpees and cheap knock off pull ups one can do in ten minutes.

I went for a walk while in Miami a couple of years ago and stumbled upon a Crossfit competition. At first I didn't know what it was, but found it to be fascinating.

Of the three team events, the first two sounded fun. First involved whitewater rafting down a segment of a river with the team carrying back the raft. I didn't make this one since it started at 7:30 am. Second, the teams power cleaned for ten minutes and tallied each member's highest weight. I did like watching this as there were some guys pulling a good amount of weight, much more than I can pull. The third was a relay with push presses, the weird pull ups (don't remember the name but you use your hips to help), ring dips and burpees. Cheered on the wife's team but that's as much as I got into the last event.
