The lower knee pain sounds like a patellar ligament problem. Especially if the pain is in the region where it attaches to the tibia.

You can try getting a massage or stretching out the quads and calves, this type of stuff if it helps - there can also be a problem with how you squat that's causing the pain in there.

A friend of mine had a similar issue (he missed the junior nationals because of it) and iirc it had to do with his quads or itb being all knotted up.

myself, I had a similar problem with my previous shoes, which were the oh so shitty old Do-Wins. Whenever I'd squat in them I'd get knee pain like you wouldn't believe. Switched to my adipowers with probably good 2.5 cm less heel and problems all gone instantly.

Will do some reading on that, just started reading supple leopard as well so maybe I'll get some insight there. I always do my foam rolling and hip stretching before squats, but I don't do static quad stretches and such since I read that was bad before a workout. Always squat barefoot since getting the home gym set up, so doubt it's a shoe issue.

I meant stretch as in stretch after lifting/on your off days. Static stretching is mostly a no-go before lifting.

It may help or it may not, but it's worth a shot anyways.

Sportmask are awesome for off the rack. I've had two, loved them.

After 3 months off I'm getting back in the gym this afternoon. Feelsgoodman

edit: and LOL @jarude bet that shit hurt.

Edit 2: Holy shit just signed up at a new gym that's 2 min from my apt. Could even run there if i wanted the cardio. No joining fee since it's "back to school" time. Payed for 1 year up front for $165 after tax... $13.75/mo for all of this. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Still looking for a gym around White Plains, NY for this coming weekend. It's not looking promising.

EDIT: Looks like there's a New York Sports Club in White Plains. Any opinions, anyone? I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can just pay per use while I'm there.

I don't think so. Last install I went on was 12-14 hour days, just enough time to grab meals before bed. I'm planning on getting out there some time probably in the spring, though, just for vacation.

Finally back in Virginia. The final damage is 4 pounds lost during my 4 week rotation and a noticeable amount of strength. Will be trying to gain it back while I'm here for the next 6 weeks. Stocked up on peanut butter so should be pretty easy.

Is Equinox usually a decent gym? Firm sending me on overseas trip in September, I get to stay @ a 5 star hotel with a equinox chain. Should bring squatting shoes?
