For the dudes cutting, what weight you cutting from? 170? 180? I am pretty happy at my new weight of 160 with good gains in str but minimal aesthetics. I think I maybe going for the Ripptoe look lul. From my experience though I think you dudes who cutting at under 200 maybe losing an advantage once you drop down to around my weight. I personally can't imagine dropping back to 150 lb. if anything I would try very hard to do a body recomp while maintaining at 160 +/- (I don't know if that is possible unless I cut from 170)

Had to look that up. The 5lb burrito?

What you mean losing an advantage? Don't think I'll be getting any stronger while I cut, at least that appears to be the case so far. Days seem more on/off than consistently on when I was eating at surplus, but I suppose that's part of cutting, will retain what I can. Sitting at around 170 and shooting for 160ish, will see how I look as I approach. There's a lot of ways to be 150/160/etc. at any height, you could probably get back down to 150 and be a lot less "soft" than you previously were, but I'm not sure that's ultimately what you want.

Ended my dry streak from before exams, thought you should all know. She was decent aesthetics, but obviously not as aesthetic as me.

trying to keep up with calories while you are dead sick is the fuckin worst. I'm so pissed. I didn't get sick once while strength training. I'm blaming all this volume.

Have been upping volume and intensity for the past weeks in preparation of an incoming meet. Have been working pretty well icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

For example, my squat session yesterday was:
Warmups
Squats 1x5, 1x3, 1x2, 1x5
Paused squats 1x5,1x5,1x5
Safety Bar speed squats 10 sets of 2
2-5 exercises for Abs/biceps

Do the same thing 4x week, 2 days for bench,1 for squats and 1 for deads. I like it but rest and food must be high.

How close is your meet?

I usually start cutting volume once I get closer to a meet.

August 24th. It's my first meet so I'm not doing it *too seriously*. No cutting weight or anything. I just want to go in, get at least 6/9 and have fun. I will take a week off on August 19th though.

The volume is to get used to the new form required (IPF rules). I wasn't used to having feet down on bench press but it's much better now. I also want to get used to *more* overall work as I never seem to get really tired or bad DOMS the day after. I may be able to abuse that. Will see how it goes...

Quick question though to Charly or anyone else with experience. Have any of you cut weight for a meet that does weight-in and lifts in the same day? I imagine that you can't drastically cut water weight as you cannot gain it afterward because you do not have an extra day to eat. I believe that you may able to train with +10-15 lbs and cut that quickly 1-4 weeks before but would it impact negatively your meet? Just wondering for the next time.

I've only cut weight for a 24 hour weigh in.

But 4% is usually fine for same day weigh ins given you rehydrate properly.

A simple water load technique will work for an easy 6-8 pounds for most people.
