Don't they just assume everyone is in it for the money?

Yeh. ppl who think prosperity=well-being.

So "coz I'm v. ambitious and am willing to work my ass off for tons of moniez and loadz of social status" would prob. cover it. Unless u actually like investment banking, but in that case you wouldn't need us to tell you why you want to be an investment banker.

I think I'm going to do the standard "discovered a passion for......maths and statistics.....linked in with my interest for business and the financial world......my desire to understand led me to read the economist and the financial times..........running my own business (fuk yah stylefoumz)......arbitrage/creating markets....my further studies in economics.....importance of statistics in decision making.......my leadership skills/personal qualities, which I will demonstrate through embellished extracurriculars you want me to have pushed me towards IBD" that pretty much everyone uses.

Currently viewing open houses. Disregard actual house, obtain massive hardon from reimagining unfinished basements as dream home gym.

Are you planning to buy a house? Basements practically don't exist here frown.gif Don't forget about that garage! Awesome perk of owning a home.

As long as you feel comfortable, is it ok to leave your wrist wraps on for the duration of your workout? Like 45 minutes - to an hour. My wrists suck for some reason, always clicking and feeling weak

Yea, I saw about the sale posted, but not much I can do. On the wrong end of the country now.

If your wrists are shitty I would buy better wraps that you can't wear for more then a few minutes and just take them off between sets.

Are you applying for a corporate finance (what I think of as IBD) position or a sales and trading job? The points you raise for the cover letter seem more aligned with the latter than the former.

It's actually for this group, which gets given loads of internships in the city and gets to distribute them so it's not very specific, but they ask what you'd most prefer so I was going to say IBD. Would those qualities look better for sales and trading then? I don't really know enough these things to know definitely what I want to do, but I'm going to privately apply for loads of different shit. IBD, sales and trading, some management consultancy shit, research roles, and even the big 4 as a back up and because I consistently get perfect scores in the quantitative reasoning SHL exams so they'll love me.

is this for an internship fuji?

You're better off going in and talking to someone, most of them are not going to care to read a whole bunch of people's bullshit, as long as your grades are good if they like you then it's a much easier decision for them.

"Should I read through these 50 applications, or should I just go with the dude who seemed pretty nice and decently hardworking and has comparable grades to the rest of the people in this paper stack?"

It's way too competitive for them to be allowed to do that. I can't just walk into some huge firms London office and ask to go talk to their HR department and hand them a CV, have to do these absolutely massive online applications. They do have networking events, where I can go brown nose like fuck, but that's only going to get me a phone interview or get invited to some other hiring event, those people can't actually hire me. Then if my phone interviews good they might let me take a bunch of online tests, then maybe an in person interview, some in person tests, bull shit roleplaying games with other people applying, more interviews. Whole process takes absolutely ages and it's the same for less prestigious stuff like accounting. My mates dad worked for goldman for 25 years and he couldn't get him an internship. Surprisingly they don't care all that much about grades, most don't seem to differentiate between having a first or a 2.1.
