TK might have some insight as well.

I guess like, relish every step in the process. But if you add a steady 1-1.5 lb a week that's a good 30-40 lbs by early next year. Cut 15 of those and you'll probably be in a real good place.

I agree^

Bodybuilding in general is a process of taking X steps forward and X steps back. If you "lean bulk", you're taking 1.5 steps forward and when you cut going 1 step backwards. This is fine if you're already swole as fuk, but if you don't have much mass on you it's going to result in a long drawn out process. Go a bit harder in your bulk and you can take 2-3 steps forward and when you cut go one step backwards. It's seriously MUCH easier to cut a little extra fat than it is to gain more muscle. A proper bulk is gonna take around 16-20 weeks, while a proper cut can be done in 8-12.

For some insight last year I bulked up 50 pounds and cut 35 for a net gain of 15 pounds of LBM.

500 calories above maintenance is general rule of thumb for a bulk, yes?

Just lift heavy and often and get on that see-food diet.

Don't go too hard, though... Any more than ~1lb/week turns "bulking" into "fatting."

Fuck yea, I already was, but now I can eat monster burritos instead of salad bowls with no rice or beans.

Word, i'm amped. Once I start cutting i'll need to be really careful to not cut into the LBM i've gained, but i'll cross that bridge when I get there.

First thing I've ever cooked that tasted decent instead of moderately passable. Just ate 2lb of food... brb feel sick. Mostly spaghetti squash and green veggies so still cut friendly for me.

I should probably bulk too, but I won't. Just can't accept getting any fatter mentally frown.gif

Yeah, this. Don't worry about lbs/week or anything like that, if you feel like you are getting fat, lift more/eat more/htfu. nothing worse than twinklord status, even with abs.

After eating at a mild surplus for a couple of weeks, and noticing my strength increase, and overall musculature develop, I was feeling that same mental barrier going into a cut. Did not want to lose strength, or some of the muscle I gained.

Bulking for a couple of months and getting strong and big as fuck underneath some fat (which will be minimal I hope) then chiseling it all away to see mad gains seems so, so enticing.

Do the bulk also, then we can compare who get's bigger/stronger within the next half a year haha.

Nope, can't do it! Winter outdoor activity season is coming wink.gif I'm sure Toasty will join you on a bulk though...

Also, I'm pretty sure I have severe body dymorphia at this point so the sooner I fix that the better...

Haha, I live a block away from the beach and spend 95% of my free time there. I'm giving no fucks.

Look at the builds on some of the first surfers in the 60s they had big shoulders and thick waists. Look almost like powerlifters and they were badass gents that wore short board shorts and gave no fucks.

Pulled for some max efforts for the first time this bulk today. Was able to get 435 without any problems...felt I could have gotten 455+ but decided to wait until next time. I'm thinking my goal of 5 plates in this bulk will be a reality.

Bulk once, cut once. Move forward. Don't look at yourself in the mirror until you start cutting. Cutting w/o lean mass = spinning gears. It took me 4 years of lifting to realize this and is why I'm now just bulking till I'm as strong as I want to be.
