More difficult than I'd thought. Have bought some weightlifting shoes so that might help with the necessary range of motion so that I can catch in the proper overhead squat position.

have you considered getting a coach? its made a world of difference for me

anyways the wrist is not supposed to be straight. self-learning weightlifting is a total bitch, especially if you don't know any proficient lifters or anything, much too easy to learn some shitty habits that become nigh impossible to correct.

I will consider getting a coach if I'm not making progress after a month or so.

It's quite humbling to go from having pretty respectable powerlifting numbers to actually realising I can't even do a single bodyweight +pvc bar overhead squat without the bar coming forward at the bottom.

I'm just going to shelve the ego for a while and work on the mobility as much as I can.

My self-made program looks like this:

Monday:
Squat 5x5
Bench 5x5

Tuesday
Deadlift 5x3
Hang C&J 10x1-2
Hang snatch (replacing with overhead squat until I've got that down) 10x1-2

Thursday
Front squat 5x5
Row 5x5
Strict press/Push press/behind the neck push press 5x3

Saturday
C&J (warming up with hang cleans from the hip to make sure my technique is good)
Snatch (again, overhead squats until I can do this right)

Refeed days are the best...

Wake up in the morning looking/feeling like a flat, non-lifting phaggot who couldn't bench 100 pounds to save his life and not a single visible vein on entire body.
Go to bed looking like shredded Greek powerful God with so many veins popping that children and small dogs cower for their life and enough energy and strength to pick up a Honda(Civic, not Accord) and toss it down the street.

OK.

Just reading that book, i've pinned the problem down to ankle flexibility, or lack thereof.

gym feels are the best feels, like when you grind through that last big rep and your head goes fuzzy and then you rack it and you get this massive rush of i dont know what the fuck but it feels awesome

lol

also Hristov @ JWC in peru, I noted during the EWC that this guy is a likely next entrant to the triple bodyweight club. seems my hunch is on track as this is a really nice lift, only 8kg off the mark

I tried for like 5 minutes and couldn't get it to work. Something about cleaning before hitting the snatch.

I thoroughly believe that olympic lifts should not be self taught. You need a coach, not a crossfit coach either. My coached watched every lift I did for 10 months before I felt like I got the lifts down right.

Get in a better starting position by dropping your ass and sitting back a bit. Make sure the bar is touching your shins and there isn't any "slack" in your shoulders or elbows. Shoulders directly over the bar. Deep breath, sit back into your starting position, pull, lock your hips out. Lose the b-ball shoes.

well i've kinda skirted around this but since you mentioned it, yeah. i don't want to say its impossible just a very hard thing to do, requiring lots of video, bar path analysis and most of all commentary from proficient lifters or coaches.

inb4 clarence, probably coached by najdek

Yohimbine's making me feel really weird in the mornings. BP/HR are fine, I just feel uncomfortable all the time. Very strange. Also been thirsty as hell, which was expected.
