Goals are to get bench 295 --> 345, squat 435 --> 485, deadlift 455 --> 505 and finally start doing heavy military presses. Might seem like ambitious goals, but I think they're do-able since I've acheived my numbers with hypertrophy training and no real strength training. Will probably bulk up to 200(210 tops).

I like my coach's basic routine he put out a while ago: http://www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19594

It's very similar to what I do but mine is personalized for my weaknesses and goals.

I'll tell you one thing.. it didn't happen overnight. Took me forever to figure out what worked best for me.

It's certainly working for you!! I do a lot of playing around with my form, sometimes it's disastrous and sometimes it works. I still don't think I know my mechanics well enough though

It looks interesting...but curious why he put wide grip bench instead of standard PL bench?

Pl bench setup doesn't indicate a particular grip... Isn't wide the most popular?

I think for geared lifters? I bench narrows as fuck, how I was taught, people will ask me in the gym why I'm narrow grip benching so much weight.

When I think PL-style, I think elbows tucked. When I think wide-gripped, I think elbows flared. But I might be mistaken?

Doesn't really matter since we specified where your fingers should be in relation to the rings (32" apart).

I like for people to start wide and if they feel discomfort or any pain, to start narrowing it a bit.

I started at index on rings but now I'm middle finger on rings. Doesn't seem like much but that extra inch does wonders for my shoulders.

Btw, for the main movements the goal is to move up 10 pounds a week on squat/deadlift once you hit the required reps and 5 pounds on bench. Assistance movements shouldn't really move up too much if any.

Once you start hitting a wall (missing reps at a weight for more than 2 weeks, time to dial back about 3-4 weeks worth of poundage increases, and start all over again. Or implement 2x3 and then 2x2 or something along those lines if you know what you're doing.

If you drop that much weight, should you increase reps until you start progressing again?

Nope, 2x5. It won't be as challenging but it will set you up for your PR's in the coming weeks.

Alright, so long story short.

Am 18, halfway through my senior year of highschool and about to graduate early, 3rd in my class, bunch of good, mostly useless accolades.

Have been swimming since middle school, and wrestle at 155 weight class in H.S.

Meet beautiful but twisted girl right before I graduate. A domesticated hoodrat if you will, my nice jewish boy side goes crazy. We enter a tumultuous ~2 year relationship.

Develop alcohol problems, drink up to a liter of vodka every single day. fuck up the beginning of my college career, attempt suicide and end up in psych ward for a month last summer. Get out, figure it is in my best interest to get my life back on track, it took a couple of times of spinning my wheels before I really get going, and entirely cutting off that bitch from my life. It's been nearly half a year since i've spoken to her, and I have my bad days, but that's normal I like to think.

After trying antidepressants, and realizing they dont do anything except make me feel awful through the myriad of side effects. I figure I will try natural ways of making things balanced and happy within myself.

I've realized that essentially a proper sleep regime, coupled with a good diet, and most importantly keeping your mind and body active through positive things is a great key in maintaining a happy life style. I feel the best I have in a long time, and hopefully this trend will continue

Fuck antidepressants, fuck any schemes, if you want something just go for it.

Anyway, pictures.

Went from this

18 years old, probably 150-155

To this, at my worst. I stopped weighing myself when I crossed 195, so I would not be surprised if I was pushing 200 here. This is January, or Feb at the latest.

Absolutely gross.

To this, about a two weeks ago. I've dropped another pound since. Picture is a bit revealing, but whatever. I'm sure you guys have seen worse haha. 178 here. Also a haircut and shave does wonders.

For what it's worth, have stayed at the same height more or less throughout 5'10.

This is my routine currently.

Workout A: Squat, Bench Press, Tricep Dips, Dumbell Flies, Tricep Extentions

Workout B: DB Overhead Press, DB Curls, Lat Pulldowns, Seated Rows, Deadlift

Do this M,W,F and on T and TH I'll jumprope and do a little active recovery in the form of a 5k run, along with some body weight exercises, pullups, chinups, pushups, and ab wheel rollouts.

I think i'm going to continue with this routine until I get down to 165-170, at which point I want to switch to a more hypertrophy oriented program. Have been shopping around and I know it seems lame to pick his, but I like what Zyzz did, any of you guys care to comment? Scroll down to the middle of the page for a sample of his workout http://www.simplyshredded.com/exclusive-zyzz-interview.html
