I took it to mean that Rambo was once a bigger fatass than he is now, which means he's literally got excess skin (not fat), and would only have more if he became even less of a fatass than he is now.

Trying to convince him to actually measure the portions. He says he isn't losing any weight. 1) If the log were accurate, that's not nearly enough for a man of his size and he should be losing weight? 2) That's clearly not accurate, right?

For older people (actually, anyone), I recommend getting bloodwork done beforehand. Hormones and thyroid. Cheap to do. Get it done through your doctor and if he won't do it for you, just use privatemdlabs.com.

I choose the female hormone panel (can be used for males too.. it's just the name of the panel) for hormones - only $50. And you can also check off thyroid w/ TSH for $50 more. So for $100, you can get the whole shebang done. It's cheap considering it's information about your body's ability to add mass and lose fat among many other things like liver function and whatnot.

Haha that would be a decision between you and your doctor. I think of it like this.. you should know what you're working with before demanding things of it. Chances are that more than one person reading this will have low test (or high estrogen which is bad also).

Just got my bi-yearly bloodwork done, and I came back with increased liver function and estrogen within "normal range" but a bit higher than I would like.

What is the exact concern when it comes to an increased liver function?

I always wanted to get blood tests done but was worried it would be too expensive. Plus, I don't have a primary care physician right now I don't think. I should probably get in for a check up, too.

I love doing calves. Fucking love it. Back in high school and college before I started lifting I had really bad calf problems where I could only run a little bit and my calves would just start killing me. It was really bad. Then one day after lifting for a while I decided to see if working them out would help. Killed my calves the first time I targeted them, could barely walk home. It wasn't just DOMS, they hurt so freaking bad. After the DOMS and pain subsided my calves were like completely healed and I never had a problem with em again haha. I'm pretty sure my calves have grown quite a bit, too.

I think my calves hurt from skateboarding too much. Being on my toes all the time when skating, that probably significantly contributed to my pelvic tilt, too.

Starting today I'm stretching three times a day and foam rolling daily. My mom gave me one of those sticks with rollers on them that works a lot better at targeting specific spots on the quads/hip flexors, and you can use it while sitting down. I'm also starting a variant of the Neanderthal No More lifting prog that I'm gonna run for a few months. I already feel somewhat of an improvement and I'm really fucking hyped to get rid of this shit. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

PS Whoever recommended The Grid roller, it's epic.

what method?
Oh yeah, 58 (?) year old mom asked me to put a plan together for her because she wants to get a gym membership and start building some muscle. "Nothing too intense" were her words. She didn't want to see a trainer "just yet" because she wanted to develop the habit of going first.

I recommended that she go see a trainer - a specific trainer that I know is good - at least for a few sessions as he can put together a plan for her and teach her proper form/habits. She walks and tries to be somewhat active but is larger, very deconditioned, is older and has some specific health issues that would affect her training (general arthritis, some nerve issue in her hip, had hand surgery which affects her hands still, etc.). I'm not even gonna touch that.

Same structure as my bulk really. Carbs cushioned around my workouts. Just upped the protein and dropped the fat and carbs a bit. Going to walk 45mins on my off days.

Can you fix your test and estrogen levels without getting some form of medication?

I read the Renegade Diet which besided being a fat loss diet really emphasizes fixing various hormone levels etc, and he says only eating whole foods (absolutely zero processed food), limiting workout to 45 mins and sleeping 8-9 hours a night will fix most of the test / estrogen levels.

You know anything about that?

It means my liver hasn't fully healed from previous years of alcoholism. Close to a normal liver now. I limit myself to about 5 drinks/one night of drinking a week now (and the rare occasional 10 drink night), but look like I might have to limit it to 0-2 beers/one night a week.

Well certain foods can help with hormones levels but not enough to make a huge difference for most people on extreme ends of the spectrum. Sleep is definitely a huge factor but I assume everyone that wants to take care of their body is getting at least 8 hours a night.

So in short, yes, you can fix your test/estrogen levels without medication but a lot of it is genetic. You'll have some guys that have shitty sleep and still have test levels on the upper end of the spectrum and low estrogen and you'll have guys like me that sleep well and have average testosterone and on the upper end of normal estrogen.

Don't know about the whole 45 minute workout though.. my warm ups take about half of that time haha.
