Why do people like using belts or any kind of gear for that matter when squatting? I've never felt the urge, but I've never used one so IDK.

I guess I was always around water growing up. Learned to swim with lessons when I was 3ish. But was in water a lot when I was a baby. I can swim decently. My gf was a swimmer in high school and I'm probably going to start going with her. I'm faster than her with just a normal head out of water freestyle stroke, but can't swim for shit with my head down doing the side breathes. Freaks me out because I feel like I'm gonna suck in a bunch of water.

Bought a Magic Bullet blender thing. Gonna make so many protein smoothies and veggie/nutrient filled goodness. Pretty excited.

I use a belt so I can move more weight and squat more safely, I use knee sleeves so theres last chance of hurting my knees, I use oly shoes because they put my in a better position to squat in.

Speaking of gear, when to start using wrist wraps? I understand it is more for safety than helping move more weight...

I use to wear a belt when I neared 300lb front squats. I always liked belts on front squats and overhead press because my midsection is more secure when Incan push out against it with my gut.

I ordered a knee sleeve b/c I tweaked my left one and now it gets easily agitated when I put any kind of pressure on it. And I'm too much of a goddamned hard-head to just stay out of the gym for a week or two till it's better.

 

Wrist wraps - I use them for going super-heavy on shrugs or dumbbell military press.

Guy who I taught how to lift is having his first meet this morning. Just squatted 450, so proud icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I need to stop sleeping on my side, it's killing me. Had it solved and was sleeping on my back no prob, but when I can't sleep I automatically shift to my stomach.

WTF my girlfriends X is competing in this competition. He didnt even lift 2 years ago and I pretty much pulled a robbery on him, he tried to alpha me but I was 40lbs heavier than him and shot him down every time. Gave the poor kid a complex apparently.. He missed his first lift at 150lbs squat, way high..
