if you don't change your thinking and attitude about bulk/size then you run the risk of being one of those sad permabulker dudes who are terrified of dropping below 15% bodyfat because their arms might shrink. imo, the longer you spend in this "need to bulk" mode, the harder it will be for you mentally to stick with a cut and the more your psyche and self-esteem will suffer. i was like this for the longest time until injuries fucked my training over and i was back to nearly starters and semi-dyel mode, but it was good for my psyche as i'm not constantly hung up on size at all costs now.
imo if you've bulked your way 30+lbs from true skinny bitch origins and have to question whether or not you've put on too much BF, you should probably think about cutting sooner rather than later. you're not going to look like a dyelbro just because you dropped some bodyfat, nor is this going to prevent you from reaching your goals in the future.
Good points. I found some videos today of me snatching in competition 50kgs at something like 129BW, wasn't too long ago. Now I'm 183lbs.. I'm setting PRs every week right now, I'm mostly attributing this to making a ton of breakthroughs in mobility past 3 months + diet. This was the first time I set out a plan 3 months in advance and said I wana go from 170lbs to 185lbs by March 24th, actually tracking progress and making adjustments. Original plan was to cut down to 175lbs after but I like being 185lbs. I should probably get back to around 15% but I don't wanna throw a wrench into what I have going right now.
I should re measure my body fat, dunno where calipers went. It's probably like 17-20%.
