AFAIK, it depends on your current level and goals. It's good in the sense that is has a lot of variety, is good for aesthetics (pretty high upper body to lower body ratio) and that you can progress on it for a long time. I don't believe it's the best for getting strong at the compounds, fully utilising the possible noob gains and learning technique (due to long time inbetween movements - squatting once every 8th day or so for instance). I think most guys view it as an intermidiate routine.

I've run spbr for 9 months, but I'm actually not sure if I'm at the level yet to get the full gains from it. I haven't see the results and strength increase as fast as I hoped for and my progress seams very slow in comparison to noobs who run 5x5 or SS.

My current lifts are (3 sets of 5 reps):
Front squat - 130 lbs
Deadlift: 250
Paused bench: 140

Do you guys reckon I should focus more on compounds and move to say, 5x5?

Man IF is great. 1 week in, I'm feeling better in the gym than before I started, and it seems like I get to pig out more while staying in my macros. I'm feeling this

I peaked aesthetically in about 2005. I was skinny but I had some mass, but more importantly I had all my hair and real teeth. Had an accident in 2007 and haven't really recovered. Been with my wife since then though lol.

I don't understand the need to rush progress. If its working, why not stick with it? Lifting is more about enjoying the process and ensuring progress relative to last week's session rather than focusing on the arbitrary numbers on the bar for that week.

For the spbr in particular, there are a lot of adjustments and alternate movements one can use. Its a dumb-proof framework that all but guarantees progress.

So you have no teeth or hair? That sucks.. I drive like I'm 80 years old because I'm terrified of getting in a car accident and not being able to lift for awhile.

I just used my functional strength in the real world because I am an athlete. Cleans and pressed and squat jerked one of those old as fuck TVs which have the thing coming out of the back and are heavy as fuck. If I had only done high rep work this would not have been possible and I would not have acquired a girls number who was mirin. Was lolzy because some body told me it was really heavy and I wouldnt be able to pick it up.

Chinese buffet happened. Only did three plates, and couldn't finish the third. Probably didn't help that I'd felt jammed all day from this junk food kick I've been on this week. That bloat, man.

I need to mess with some of these keto dessert recipes. I'm not afraid of eating normal treats, but it's a slippery slope for me, and can turn into a daily thing for me quickly.

Yall should try dim sum ala carte buffet, if your city offers them.

Them char shao pao (bbq pork buns) and shao mai (prawn and pork dumplings) make me drool....

Had omakase four nights straight at different high-end Japanese restaurants. Every night thought to myself, I won't ask for anything extra after the standard omakase, but each night I had at least a few more pieces (umm Uni). I tried to compensate with working out hard each day, but I think that only made me hungrier.

Ended up with a much lighter wallet and 3 extra pounds on my 5'6" frame (132 pounds). Trying to get 126 without clothes.

Doomed with a SuperBowl party tonight.
