you have the weirdest looking hitch in your form when you lock your knees out. i know its technically sound, but it just looks so odd from this end.

That makes me feel 100x better about how my form is looking now. Was still obviously bad a month ago but have made improvements and I think I'm ready to start pulling heavy again.

In other news squatted with wraps today. Got 405 x 3 with ease when usually it's quite difficult. Can't wait to push myself hard with wraps on next week now.

Question for you guys. I have been doing IF 16/8 for about 9 months and have used it to gain muscle and little fat with not much restriction and one cheat day a week. However, with the holidays I have gained about 5 pounds of pure fat that I want to lose. Not being a patient sort, I want to lose it in about a month MAX. My BMR is 1650 cal and I figure a multiplier of 1.4 so about 2200 cals a day.

Can you see any reason why I shouldn't just restrict myself to 1200 cals a day (making sure to get 1g protein per lb of bodyweight) and eat at maintenance + 20% on my two heavy workout days? I figure I'd lose a pound a week this way (-5000 on deficit days and maybe +1200 on workout days) I started a week ago and I'm feeling fine except for being fucking freezing in the last 4 hours of the fast.

Thanks !

It's because I was firing my hips a bit late today.

Because I didn't realize how fast the 495 was flying off the floor haha

Btw, if anyone is wondering, none of those deadlifts were "bounced." Some look like it, but I assure you that all load was taken off the bar on the ground. Some for a split second.

I mean, if it works for you.

If you start out in that position (and don't round further during the pull) and if it doesn't cause any pain or recurring injuries.

How much do you weigh? 5 lbs isn't much. If you're used to fasting, a 3-4 day fast would cut that off quickly.

Yup!

My back is stronger and bigger than ever.

Excited to put my belt back on next week and see what 6 weeks of beltless pulling has done.

I'm at 154lb ( I realize that is v small for most but I was coming from 135) and 165 BF (want to get to 10-12%) . That's kinda why I ask because I fell like I have a very large maintenance "range". If I eat anywhere from 1500 to 2500 calories I don't seem to lose or gain any weight. I spent 6 weeks near the middle of 2012 trying to get down to 12% BF and it moved maybe 1% and I was doing 1200 cals and walking 5 days a week for 30 min on top of working out twice a week. Then I spent the last 6 months of 2012 over-eating and went crazy in Nov and Dec and finally put on those 4-5 pounds.

Is there such a thing as eating too little and the body going past fat burning and straight onto holding onto the fat? I thought that was a myth. Maybe I should do a smaller deficit and try to lose the weight slower?

Thanks for any help !

I wouldn't try to lose the weight slower, no. How tall are you? Honestly, at your size, you'd probably have an easier time lowering your bodyfat % by adding 10lbs of muscle than by dropping 5lbs of fat.

Otherwise, I come back to a 3-5 day fast. Lose it quick and get on with your life.

I'm 5'10. 3-5 day fast would be just water, right? I'd be concerned about how much muscle mass I'd lose. You're probably right about gaining 10lb of muscle vs losing 5lb of fat. But I've kinda maxed out on dumbbell weights and don't really want to build a home gym or join one for the barbells.

Thanks for the advice.

You'll lose basically no muscle mass over a 3 day fast. If that's a concern there's also the PSMF. For you that would be nothing but 150g of protein a day, 200-225g on workout days.
