Will do it again when im back at uni, 120kg should move pretty fast. Christmas will help put the weight back on, doubt much of it was muscle.


Lost my straps yesterday, need to buy new ones

fuarking hate the thick ones with rubber padding, can't get them around the bar enough times. These seem good and I've never seen straps with a warranty. Also there long so I can copy clive darden and wrap them around a bar and use it like a safety squat bar.





inb4 straps arguments, I use them for db rows and shrugs.

I shrug with a snatch grip so even 100kg is really hard to hold. I don't like worrying about my grip when I do back movements so I use straps most of the time.

Never missed a deadlift due to grip so I don't worry about it. I have massive hands, which seem to be pretty strong in a mixed grip. Forearms never grew from deadlifts though, still really skinny. I think because of how big my hands are I don't really need to grip particularly hard to hold onto anything so my forearms had no need to grow. The dumbbells at my uni gym have stupidly thick handles and no grating though so I need straps for that. But no I don't do any direct grip work, I'd probably need a pair of fat grips to do it effectively, which are a bit over priced.


wat? When did I say 150lb? 100kg is 220lb. Snatch grip makes it hard as fuck to hold onto anything.

I never have and never will use straps. I've also never missed a lift due to grip strength, but the day I do the solution won't be to get a crutch it will be to train my fingers and forearms more.

in for our quarterly straps debate. I'm not gonna sacrifice upper back work for grip work. Grip work and forearm development isn't something I particularly care about. I care much more about developing my upper back. I could drop the weight down to something I could use row or shrugs without using straps whist I spent time building up my grip strength, but then i'd be sacrificing upper back work. Also theres the argument it's much easier to activate your upper back muscles whilst using straps.

That being said, I rarely find the need to use straps unless it's for something 300+ that I need to hold doubleover hand for an extended amount of time. In other words, for shrugs if I do them.

I don't need them for deadlifts, rows, pulldowns..

Didn't you say you used them to prevent CNS fatigue when doing higher volume on deads or something?
