36" waist at 5'7" ain't that big. At least from the powerlifting world. From bodybuilding standards, it might be. Really depends on what view you're looking at it from.

This way you can get vertical bar path without the bar hitting your knees.

Hip size, like all frame measurements, is dramatically influence by genetics. Same goes for fat distribution. When you have an individual with a larger hip measurement in addition to fat distribution in the area, it is inevitable that a pear shape will be heightened during a bulk. Too much schizophrenia in this thread to be useful.

Based on that and what you've shown us and told us, I'd gotta imagine a lot of that weight is fat. I'm three inches taller than you, also have big thighs and a bubble butt and a true waist of 36" was pretty much rock bottom for me last year. I've got a shirtless pic of myself from that time and I look like someone who never lifted and always had a reserve of cake in the fridge.
Right now, you do not look like someone who lifts. You're pretty pear-shaped. I say that as someone who prided himself on lifting several times a week and trying to eat well (but obviously veering from that too often), yet looked quite pear-shaped in the aforementioned picture. I'm down about 25 pounds and nearly four inches in the waist since that time. I don't have great genetics, but once I stopped justifying eating lots of delicious junk food so frequently, the fat magically started disappearing, genetics be damned.

I hear ya. Past 3 months I have been dieting down, body fat is much lower than it was now. But yea when I was bulking all I cared about was scale weight, I wanted to get up to 190lbs asap. I think I will aim for 175lbs, my upper body is seriously underdeveloped due to never benching and my shoulder injury. It's is growing though, for example 4 months ago I was a small across the board and now I fill out a medium good and have some larges. Being a small in shirts and size 34 pants def has my looking like a pear, It's gotten less noticeable as my upper body filled out.

Obviously ill pull them up really high so they cover more of my hips. That'll have to be before I go back to school though and I'm still not feeling well after being sick so it might have to be DE work with something like 285. School gym has a policy against jeans. Virus absolutely raped me dropped me down to 172
Fuji, no one cares to see you lift in jeans. We are doubting some of the numbers you claim to be putting up, though.

Decided against lifting in them, they're the only jeans I have at home and if I rip them during squartz how am I supposed to slew gash (acquire vagina for non brits) without pants? Any other lifts you would like me to verify? Can't do deadlifts since I probably won't do a max effort pull for months. Considered taking a photo of the box I use for squartz today with me siting on it, but I was at a weird gym and didn't want to ask someone to take a photo of me sitting down. Don't see how my numbers are unbelievable, squat and dead are intermediate level after about a year and a bit.

Josh, are those plates the massive crossfit ones or are you deadlifting like 600lb?

Bumper plates.

Why are the crossfit bumpers especially massive? Bumpers in my old gym weren't that much bigger hen normal plates, they didn't bouncer very high though. Eleiko ones don't look particularly huge either. With the crossfit ones it looks like you could only fit maybe 4 a side.
I think cause they only life likt 10kg plates and they drop them constantly, those small ones always crack with abuse so they prob egineered them to be bigger.

Damn I wish I had those at my gym. Make my paltry numbers look way better.

They're annoying as shit; even a 3 plate deadlift barely fits, and they're much harder to grab with a single hand to pull off the bar.

Anyone here do glute bridges? Might start doing them because my glutes are fairly small and not particularly strong (no homo), but even though I have no problem grunting loud as fuck and dropping my weights in the gym the idea of humping a barbell in the middle of the gym seems a bit much.

2221lb raw total with no wraps. Don't understand powerlifters who sink there squats that deep. I understand doing it in training, but he probably could have gotten another 20lb out of he cut it at parallel in the meet.

x 1000

i have wide hips and narrow shoulders, guess where all my weight goes during a bulk. People with wide shoulders and narrow hips look way bigger at a certain weight because its biased to upper body and gives a exaggerted V-shape, especially in clothes. Im hoping i will look better after a cut but im not sure, i'd imagine i`ll lose a load of upper body size first and my lower body will stay much the same. My measurements are 43" hips, 34" waist, 43" chest, 49" shoulders, and most of the shoulder size is depth rather than width. The only time i look better proportioned is when i have a huge arm and shoulder pump, maybe if i can achieve permanent arm and shoulder pump then lose my lower body bulk i would gain aesthetics.

Shouldn't you have decent glutes if you're squatting 285 for reps?

My glutes and hamstrings have grown a ton since I started doing those wide stance box squats. Takes most of the strain off the quads.

Proper DL and RDL technique should hit the glutes fairly hard to, no? I get doms there after DL's sometimes.
