i wouldn't lump in a zig-zag diet with something as particular as carb backloading. only being able to lift at a particular time of day and only eating carbs within a very short window after that is much more restrictive than merely having different calorie totals each day.

for what its worth, zig-zag was pretty much the easiest diet i've ever done with the greatest results; it also works around "what you eat" rather than "when you eat it" which is probably why its so effective. eating is a chore for me so it was great only eating 1500-2000 on low days and whenever i was feeling deprived there was a 2700 day around the corner.

I feel the exact same way as zig-zag. Although I lost more body fat doing CBLing. I think CBLing fell real nice in my lifestyle / gym. The low carb days remind me of the low calorie days in zig zag, where i didn't have to worry about eating a ton of food.
