News is kind of good because it means no surgery, kind of bad because I am skeptical of PT, I just dont think it works well, kind of a sham.

My gf is a distance runner, she wants to get into the gym to lift more, would you guys recommend SS original beginner program for her? (she hasn't lifted in like 6 years) GN whats your lady doing?

if she is wanting to lift and do distance running concurrently then squatting 3x a week could be a bad idea

What's her end goal? Improve her stamina for distance running? Give her a program not designed for big bulking-- low weight, high rep. When I did distance running it was constant 15-20 rep squats at low weight. Bulk? If she's trying to bulk and maintain her distance running though, SS is as good as anything to start.

Only part of the way up. I go from -30 degrees to about +30 degrees. They really work your pecs well.

Got hold of a copy of SS last night.

Read the chapters about Squat and Deadlift.

 

Went to the gym today and was able to increase my DL with over 20 pounds and front squat with 5. DLed 210 for 8 reps with no problems. 

Did what you guys said. Placed my hips a little higher, the bar an inch or so in front of shins to pull straight up, stopped arching and locked out properly. No breakdown of the form and didn't feel weird.
