Random health and exercise thoughts - Page 1301

Saw someone squat 200kg for a double today, pretty impressive especially for my gym. The average is a 1/8th ROM with 70kg.

Realised half my problem is my glutes dont activate during squats. In the start position, my back has an arch but its kind of not tight enough, my abs are tight but its almsot like my ass just sticks up behind me. I can squeeze it down and in, which gives a much more stable/powerful position, but i lose this tightness as soon as i descend. Hard to describe, but im pretty sure the glutes should be active and tight all the way down and not just kinda popping out loosely behind your body.

I got you @ 5'7.5". I think Graphic Novelty is the shortest amongst us.

I have a really short torso. Like If I stand next to my friend that is 6"2 our hip bones almost come up to the same place and our arms are almost the same length... it's crazy.

6'3" master race checking in.

Gregg Valentino seems like a pretty cool guy. In his interview for bigger stronger faster he came across well, unlike Carl Lewis whose a bellend.

nah, all this talk about body proportions for weightlifting mainly concerns elite lifters, guys totaling 300+ @ 77 or something. not really more than an interesting point to the average recreational lifter dude.

Regarding jarude's deadlift setup cliff notes from IA, any particular cues for the shoulders/upper body?

Also, any tips regarding losing lumbar extension after roughly rep 3 in a working set? Already doing RDLs as assistance on a different lift day.

Best snatch workout of my life 2.5 weeks out from competition. Two singles at 105kg and then one single at 106 (PR). Took a few attempts to hit the 106, but nonetheless I'm feeling good.

Also saw a knucks doppelganger in the weight room today..... stocky, huge beard. But the dude struggled to push-press 185 lbs for a double and I'm quite sure knucks is way stronger than that.

Today marks day 90 of my bulk. 30 pounds in 90 days. Both pictures are relaxed with no pump. Feels strange looking back.

I work a godawful commissioned sales job while I go back to school for marketing. I used to work in luxury fashion retail which I enjoyed greatly but paid very little at the entry level.

A rare advantage of salesman hours is going to the gym at off peak hours though. Im sure I will miss that.

I thought those in sales generally work office hours?

Seems like lots of marketing dudes here. I worked as a marketing assistant for Yelp at the beginning of the year. I don't even have a degree. Got to work from home. Was a pretty strange job.

I'm guessing not many here work in the trades and services? I've been seriously considering it instead of going back to university. Can't imagine a BA/BFA/BDes is going to be very helpful from an employment prospective.
