TO all you NYCers I'm moving to the city in three weeks to start school at NYU. Is there anywhere on manhattan that has bumper plates and a platform for a reasonable price?
I'm not from New York but I did my fair share of searching when I was considering accepting enrollment at NYU. Smattering of crossfit gyms in Manhattan area, and I did see a couple OLY lifting gyms but in my search period most of them weren't reasonably priced. But my definition of reasonably priced is probably different than yours.

From the neanderthal no more site -

"Potential kyphosis/rounded shoulders manifestations: bicipital tendonitis, injuries to the glenoid labrum, subacromial impingement and resulting rotator cuff tears, injuries to teres major, scapular winging, decreased thoracic outlet space, degeneration of vertebral facets/acromioclavicular joints/sternoclavicular joints, and various elbow pathologies (due to compensatory overload"

fuck this is the story of my life. I'm seeing a chiropractor this week for my pain, hopefully he can help me out with this shit.

There's been a few studies that show chiropractic neck manipulation's association with increased chances of having a stroke. It's controversial, though, as other studies show that there is no increased risk.

I'm admittedly biased on the topic. biggrin.gif

Ah I see. I'm mostly looking for an opinion on the injury and what he thinks is the cause and way to fix it. I'm def not going to let him do anything to me until I have 100% confidence that he knows what's up. He comes heavily recomended by all the powerlifters in my gym and he himself is a competitive body builder.

Do you guys have a good source for workout music? Not something like a Spotify or XM station though. I need to be able to download it while I'm on the road. A State of Trance comes to mind. Shit like that.

My standard gym playlist is heavily populated with Incubus.

First day at new gym. I can't tell if I want to follow my routine of a just over body weight front squat or max out my deadlift. I think I'm gonna do both. New gym has hex plates. Gonna be weird pulling off them.

i dont know what i would do outside of torrenting music. my playlist hasnt changed much over the last year, pretty sure its the same tunes. im at a point now where i dont even like listening to music for my main movement - if im doing curls or something mindless, sure, bring on the metal but if its something important i can't focus. depends on my mood i guess. pendulum did a kickass set on BBC radio one back in 2010 iirc and im still listening to it at least once a week. pirate bay? just get at those torrents, radio one usually has good electronic stuff.

also ASOT sucks now lol. armin's playlists circa 2006 were pretty sweet but now its horrendous. if i hear one more girly-man emo piano trance interlude im going to break something. until then its amon amarth all day every day icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
