no need, my whole lower-body is giant and gross as far as mass and vascularity. you have me beat on stomach, my love of craft beer has made me a little soft in the middle, but i am cool with it...

That was probably a much more in depth and intimate look at my leg than most are interested in seeing. My apologies..

Eh. nevermind. I was being a douchebag. You take care too. wait one random thought: i always feel extremely happy throughout the day when I work out. feel a lot more awake, focused, less douchebaggeryy. previous statement was an anomaly.

Man I wish I could workout in the morning. People that can get into the gym before work or school (assuming an early class) I have a lot of respect for. It comes with plenty of benefits like you've mentioned. I have to just drag ass up there around 6PM with the after work masses and stalk a bench press for 15 minutes before even being able to start my workout. As soon as I can shake these sleep issues keeping me up until 2AM every night, I'm going to give the morning routine a shot. no biggie, here's an older picture from my last cutting period about 6 months ago (the girlfriend thought it was strange that i asked to take a picture of my legs)... Damn bro! That's serious business right there! And lol @ the girlfriend thing. I've had mine take some rather awkward photos . As I'm sure a lot of us have. She's a good photog though and understands what compels me to need (edit; want) them She gets a kick out of it...fortunately.

I'm up no later than 4:00 M-F to be at the gym when it opens at 5:00. I can count on one closed fist the number of times that I've wanted to drag my ass out of bed. However, if I didn't get it out of the way first thing I doubt I'd be going as regularly as I do, and the negative reinforcement is that I don't like the way I feel or (even less) look if I start missing.

It also helps that the gym is between my house and my office, meaning that I miss morning rush hour traffic.

Going to bed at 7:30/8:00 tends to blow, however that's why God made Tivo.

hahaha...thanks! i've actually added about 2" to them since that last photo was taken, but i've also gained about 10-15lbs as well. not really a bulk, i just eat at maintenance and drink booze again, plus i've decided to start lifting heavy again and it's making it difficult to fit into my clothing again because i've again size on my lats, chest and shoulders, boo-urns!

I know treadmill running doesn't count, but I am doing a little clean up on this bulk I'm on with some HIIT and am loving it. I set a base speed of 6 MPH, and do 2-2.5 minute intervals at 8-10MPH, with whatever cooldown time I need to do 5 minute cycles. I did about 3 miles today with a 3 minute sprint from 9 to 10 MPH, and was not even phased. Really enjoying it.

HIIT is just a dumbed down version Fartleks, Google them and you'll find a ton of variations....
definitely not dumbed down. different approaches to different goals

How is HIIT not a lesser version of Fartleks? They are both used to increase speed, endurance as well as aid in fat loss. HIIT is basically fast, slow, fast, slow, etc. using various pieces of cardio equipment, Fartleks are generally done on a treadmill with a specific and constant change in speed, timing and height resistance and if you look at the basic principles of HIIT, you'll see that it's a more basic version a more complicated Fartlek system. I am not trying to argue, I've done both on and off for years...

I am not at all a runner, just trying to keep fat under control and maintain cardiovascular health + endurance. A quick Wikipedia search shows fartlek training as just being one variation of HIIT (with climbs thrown in). I could + prob will throw some incline stuff in as I get more conditioned. For what I want I don't think Fartleks is "superior", just one of many variations of HIIT to do

fair enough and you are right, but the idea of HIIT from my understanding evolved from fartlek training. anyways, they both work and whatever makes you happy then that's all that really matters. i am not trying to start any disagreement and i never said they were superior, but a more indepth version of HIIT. the added inclines would help your legs develop even more and you'd notice it a lot when you do squats...
