Random health and exercise thoughts - Page 94

^ Lack of food. Your body has been fasting, and instead of using food for energy, it must use it's own glycogen - stored in your muscles - instead. Have a banana or a shake with mostly simple carbs; something easy to digest is best. Wait 15-30 minutes, then lift.

Do you think that is because you're body hasn't woken up properly or because of lack of food/energy?

for me it's just too damn early to wanna lift weights, especially after being awake for the total of 15min...

It's funny, I do most of my lifting fasted... basically out of necessity, if I hit the facilities in the afternoon, they're almost always swamped and given that we have a single squat rack and 1 flat bench, that doesn't bode so well for my workouts.

I've never noticed any light-headedness, not even after heavy DL or leg sessions. Every once in a while I'll throw in a fed training session, sure, but I guess I'm just the type of guy that prefers to lift on an empty stomach.

For the first time, I don't have health insurance, and you don't realize how important it is until it's gone. I need to get my knee arthroscoped and now, it's going to cost me an arm and a leg to get it done (actually, maybe just a leg).

Tuck the stimulants again today, same dose followed by creatine and whey protein after the workout. Feel fine, worked out just as hard, but I was doing my arms and shoulders instead of my back so it wasn't as intensive. Might not have been the stimulants that made me sick yesterday.

Is there something to those pre-wo stims? Stuff like jack3d and those products?

Friend has that, I think, but I suspect it's going to do anything for me. I mean, I never got even the jitters w/ EC on full dose, and that's a fair stim in its own right. I'm pretty tolerant to caffeine as well.

Maybe it's time to cut down on that mochalatte

if I'm a "never go to the gym" guy, I'm thinking of setting my target as a triathlon about 7-8 months from now. Is that a good/bad idea? Any resources i should look at?

There are two periods in the day when you are your strongest. One is something like 4-6hrs after you wake up and the next is another 6 hrs after that (exact details are out there somewhere). Additionally, it is better to lift at the same time during the day from work out to work out. If you bounce around, your mornings will be worse. If you practice it, you'll get closer to your peak period maxes.
