I have a question. I just started lifting weights for the first time in... well, ever, really. I choose to take resistance training and I'm liking it so far. The only problem is that my reps have actually gone down. For example:

8, 9, 10, 11, 7, 7

I workout three days a week, and each number is for one day. Looking at the information, you can see that I started getting better, but since the 5th day I've doing worse than before I started.

What does this mean? Am I not being careful enough and losing my form? Is this the beginning of the "repair" process for my muscles? Any idea?

This is biceps and triceps - none of my other muscle groups have this problem.

(numbers may not be 100% correct because I don't have my log with me, but they should be very close)

a) Are you always doing the same exercises on these days in the same order (for example - squat, bench, chin ups, bis, tris or whatever). If you aren't going in the same order, your reps will change - what do you think happens to bicep curl strength when its after chinups as compared to before?

b) Is the weight going up once you get to 10 reps? If not you won't get stronger... but you probably won't get weaker either. (of course, 11 reps @ 20lbs compared to 7 reps @ 25 isn't really "weaker".)

c) Broscience: B-curl and T-press are overrated. Do presses and pulls instead. (id est: Bench press works the triceps enough, and bench pull, pull ups, etc work the biceps enough)

I'm getting horrible side effects from stimulants. The workout on them is great, i lift more and stay focused and my veins really stick out but afterwards I really start to shake and feel phisically sick like I'm going to vomit. Will this eventually subside or are stimulants just not right for my body?

Stop immediately. If you take it again (big if), halve your dosage & work up.

Uhh, that's nasty. I would cut that shit out.

The bad side effects will probably decrease, but so will the desirable ones anyway. Eventually the stims will do nothing. Not worth it for 2 weeks of nausea followed by a week of good works outs.

I had similar side effects from resveratrol and my final conclusion was an increase in blood pressure was fcking up my inner ear, causing nausea. I stopped taking it immediately, although the side effects were decreasing.

We have to remember that if we're working out partly for health benefits, bad side effects are never worth it.

Sometimes when i drink a lot of coffee before I work out I want to vomit after my last set of heavy squats/deadlifts/dips. (And then sometimes, i actually do vomit). Not a good feeling. (Though, semi-humorously enough, one time this happened at my college gym and an acquaintence of mine asked my friends if i had an eating disorder.)

I've been having the beta tingle and its been about 4 hours since I took the stimulants. Spent an hour throwing up too. Going to cut to half the amount tomorrow. Might be the fact I was doing dead lifts and rows today as well.

Apparently I'm the big loser. I pay like $145 a month. It's really like half country club, half gym though.

May not be right for your body - what are you using?

Also, every workout-related stimulant I've seen starts you out on totally absurd dosages.

1st- cut the dose in half; 2nd- as mentioned above, how much water are you getting in a day?

Leg day today... my first try at 20-rep breathing squats. Lethal, I tell you... I am absolutely beat. Almost had to dump the bar @ rep 18, but somehow I managed to finish the set.

Tomorrow will be interesting, thats for sure.
