It's a bitch with stuff like lunges, but with most other lifts, I only find myself really struggling to finish sets near the end with the shortened rest periods.

I think a lot of people take way too long in between sets under the guise that they are lifting a lot, so they need to rest a lot. If it works for them, fine, but I think my lifts have gotten better by giving myself less time to rest in between instead of more.
I'm confused. Are you saying that you haven't made any gains (maybe even losses) in a year or twp, but you think the way you're doing this is preferable?

Clarification: I'm using the same weight or greater for higher reps with shorter rest that I was only able to lift with a low rep/long rest format a year or so ago. I also missed most a ton of time in 2009 with regards to lifting, so I'm sure I regressed a touch. On top of this, I'm doing this at a lighter weight, whereas I was carrying 10 to 15 pounds more weight on me back then.

pyramided up to a 5x340lb deadlift today, then 2x364lbs.

Gonna go for 5x350 next week.

if only my bench and squat were progressing so quickly.

Did something to my left pinky the other day during boxing where the outside portion and a little bit of the tip is numb and tingling. It doesn't restrict function, it's just rather annoying.

Might not actually be emanating from your pinky.

After playing tennis with my girlfriend (D1 and D2 player), her sister (D1 player), and their dad (tennis fanatic plays 5 times a week) for a week straight and getting plenty of tips and good competition along the way, I've become a pretty decent tennis player.

I'll still make fun of sissy tennis boys all day, but it is pretty fun to play.

Finally looked up that Paloff press thingy. What's the point there? Stability while you're pulling the cable towards you? None of the videos showed the cable weight stack moving an inch.

My squat has become laughable. In four months: bench - 5x175 -> 3x5x225 deadlift - 1RM from 325-415, 5RM from ~275->375 squat - 5RM from 225->245 heh

Going to batting cages to work out my core. God this is so much more fun than the gym.

Yeah, I researched it shortly after posting that and found the most common cause is from a pinched nerve in the elbow. I've been doing these little stretches I found that are supposed to alleviate the numbness and it's already better.
