Thread Starter
yea im going to buy a new laptop.been using this ibm thinkpad for years, ibm one lol..
my college major is industrial design,im thinking of a macbook. dont know which one should i get,the macbook or the macbook pro. if its the pro 13' or 15'? the prices are quite different.
if 13' is too small for industrial design(furniture design) maybe im just going to get a imac instead.

and i just heard that the DELL laptop is even better for a industrial designer?

thanks ..

I'm assuming your software is available on both MacOS and Windows versions.

My day job involves drawing diagrams and my hobby is photography and have Windows and MacOS versions of the software I use. I use a Lenovo Thinkpad T500 (supplied by employer) and a MacBook Pro 15" (personal) but I tend to reach for the MacBook more and more nowadays, mostly because it's lighter, more powerful and with much better screen albeit at lower resolution. Functionality comes from the software so no difference between the two.

The construction is of equal quality but I had to deploy a clean version of Windows on the T500 as the Lenovo version that came with it was crashing every time the screensaver was activated.

If I was buying a MacBook Pro now I would have gone for the 17" version with the antiglare filter.

windows 7 is pretty awesome, and unless you need to have the mobility you could just buy a big monitor (a 24" lcd is like $280 now)

I recommend the Macbook Pro. I find the Macbook's 13" screen to be too small for watching videos, editing photos, etc. and the body gets scratched easily, plus it makes dirt and fingerprints highly visible.

For PC's, I wouldn't recommend anything other than a ThinkPad...
