Honestly,

What's the deal here?

" Maybe it's something really cool that I don't even know about. You know, and uh.. what I thought we were in the trust tree in the nest, were we not? "

Someone do tell....

This. It's like super alcohol. It basically completely takes away your inhibitions, but you don't remember a whole lot the next day.

I take it for insomnia, but I've never tried Ambien sex. It is like truth serum, though. It removes all of your internal censors, so I can see how it would have the same effect with sex. I usually don't forget everything I did after I took it, but things are pretty hazy. A lot of it comes back with some prompting.

Super alcohol? Uh, no. Ambien is some of alcohol's negative qualities (not knowing where you are or what you're doing), amnesia etc, and only one of alcohol's positive qualities (it does help you sleep). I've never experienced any kind of euphoria, removal of inhibitions etc on it. The first time I made the mistake of taking two pills instead of one, I got up in the middle of the night and drank a half-bottle of vodka, straight. The scary part is, I rarely drink at all, and I have no memory whatsoever of doing it.

Police are routinely finding people who've 'sleep driven' into car wrecks. They don't even snap out of it after the wrecks, and police show up to find them walking, talking, able to respond to questions etc, but completely asleep. Just bizarre.

It's evil, evil stuff. Never take more than 10mg within an 8-hour period, or use it long-term.

I don't understand this. You say it's not like alcohol, then you go on to list all of the ways it's similar to alcohol. Also, you may not have the euphoria or loss of inhibitions, but they're a common side effect of the drug. They're also the reason people take it recreationally.

This is all true, though a lot of the stuff I've seen points to this being much more common when there's another factor involved. People who take it with other meds, with alcohol, or take more than directed are much more likely to have side effects. I've been taking it once or twice a week for a while now, and I haven't had any ill effects. My doctor is well aware of the way I use it, and she has no problem with it. In fact, she wrote me a script with refills. Used properly it's really helpful, and the side effects can largely be mitigated by taking simple precautions.

You called it "super alcohol", and that's what I was responding to. At least in my experience it's not. There used to be a drug called methaqualone that was, again IMO, all the positive effects of alcohol with almost none of the negative. But it's no longer available legally except in Switzerland and a few other countries.

Taking it a few times a week is nothing, you should be fine. But I hope others will heed the advice to never take more than 10mg in an 8 hour period.

I took Ambien daily for a couple of years. My tolerance was high enough that I was also prescribed various benzos to stack on top of it if I couldn't sleep.

I experienced no downsides to the drug. There was zero sleepwalking. Zero sleepdriving. Zero other crap. I strongly suspect that the strange effects occurred with recreational doses or mixtures of ambien with other, probably recreational, drugs.

Only during the first few doses I ever took did I experience the hallucinations Ambien is known for causing. Strange dreams too. But I consider those positive effects. That went away quickly though.

that movie role models the guys tries having ambien sex and wakes up naked in the woods in front of a scouting troop, lol. first time ive heard of it. I prefer the good old fashioned aphrodesiac: chloroform.

I think you misunderstood my meaning, or it looks different to someone reading than it sounds in my head. When I said "super alcohol" I meant it has many of the same effects, but they are amplified. I didn't mean to imply that it is comparable from a recreational perspective.

I took ambien once and I hallucinated that my bed was a raft on a river. I had a mug next to my bed with some monkees on it. They came alive and started swinging alongside me. Edit: Monkeys, not monkees. I was, however, listening to the Monkees whilst writing this.

Damn, my hallucinations weren't anywhere near that intense.

I laid in bed, my bed felt like it was moving slightly, like swaying, and then everything that is normally still in my bedroom was moving a bit. Swaying I guess. Like it seemed like there was a breeze hitting my curtains even though the windows were shut. It also seemed like the same breeze was hitting my nightstand and my closet door, even though they are both made of solid wood and can't possible move like that.

Did the Korean girl next to you turn into a bowl of kimchi demanding you pay her $500 to "pickle" her?
