Why can't they just put annual quota in place for individual orders and leave it at that? Seems so drastic to close it down, open it up and close it down again.

I understand they might feel overwhelmed by the quantity of orders, and, no doubt, some people can be so pedantic as to constitute borderline harassment, but surely there are other ways to keeping things open while dispensing with the nuisances.

^yep

What they need to do is create a fact sheet or simple web link and template the response so they don't have to waste so much time answering inane questions. Things like how to size, differences in yarn and pictures of the swatches in easy attachments with explanations so basically all they have to do is accept the order and begin the knit without all the back and forth nonsense, sizing questions, yarn questions, etc.

Damn that's too bad, I wanted to order a few months from now.

But I want the sleeves 0,1" shorter than standard and the shoulders 0,0001".

I had a standing order, and got my invoice just now - so hopefully they are honouring everything in the queue.

@jet is right about SFers asking too many inane questions. Apparently some orders took up to 30 emails back-and-forth to finalize, all just for a single sweater. Whoever did that should have just asked the questions here.

Also, they are a small operation but they do follow what is said about them in this discussion thread.

That's true, but remember that they are a business. They aren't just doing us favors, we are giving them money. Every business in the world deals with annoying customers. But of course I agree it's helpful for everyone if people were smarter about it

How long ago did you order?

Are we sure the direct order option was stopped due to taking too much time dealing with anal-retentive SF's? Maybe the corporation that now owns the Inverallan name put an end to it?

August 1st.

Oh, and I agree with the comments about multiple mails but even though I knew exactly what I wanted it still took a few mails.

That's the explanation I got. It took far too much time (esp. with the time zone difference). On top of that, I assume there were people who took advantage of Shannon's help, asked a lot of questions but never paid for a garment. It's frustrating and not very feasible for a small operation.
