exactly what I was going to say. and they'll fall way under your price limit.

the meat grinder they had looked interesting also... with that, and Pio's sausage thread, i'm beginning to get bad ideas

luckily classes start back up on the 4th, else I would be in way over my head. but i digress. Look at the Kaloriks on Gilt and see what you think.

I have one of the classic Oster beehive blenders. I use it a lot. Like, almost every day. It's nigh on six, seven years old now, and still performs as perfectly now as it did on day one. The only thing I've ever had to do is replace the rubber gasket on the pitcher, but that's only because I put the gasket in the dishwasher, which you're not really supposed to do. Inexpensive, well-performing, and (apparently) durable as fuck; I'd recommend one without hesitation.

I have the classic Oster beehive as well. I put in frozen berries, milk and yogurt to make a smoothie. Rinse right after to avoid stickiness. There are no gimicks. It's one speed. Frozen strawberries are the hardest to crush because they are big, but just add enough liquid or give it a physical shake to reposition things and then you have a perfect 60-second smoothie. I haven't tried it with veggie yet. I don't know if this blender handles veggies.
