I can't speak to formal clothing, but if you're looking for streetwear or semi-formal stuff, try Armani Exchange. Seriously, if you can find the logo-free stuff, it fits really well.

Thanks Longskate. I actually just ordered 6 sets of their crew t's to start with. I read on shortshrifted.com that they're a great cut for my build. Unfortunately, the poster had recommended XS, and they're skin tight on me. I've got some Smalls on the way to see how much better they fit. If this works out, I'm going to start trying their other things too. I'll probably keep the XS's anyways strictly as undershirts.

Nice, yea be careful with their sizing. I wear everything from XS to M with them, more often than not I size up to M in their T's and polos since they're very fitted. I'm 5'7" and 130lbs.

I don't know how SF-approved Haines and Bonner shirts are since they're not mentioned here too much, but their fitted shirts are nicely slim on me and I'm about your size.

Also, the house brand at Bloomingdale's is nothing special, but they have decent merino sweaters made of Zegna yarn that fit pretty well in a small.

I'm also similar in stature to you and would suggest it is worthwhile you looking at Armani suits ( sale prices if your budget is tight) for more formal attire. If you ever visit Northern Italy where the guys are often of our stature, you'll find, as I did, stores full of stuff the will fit without alteration (even down to mass market but reasonable quality 'intermissimi' T's & underwear. Italy is actually next on my list of places to visit. I spent about 6 weeks hiking across Spain this past summer/fall, and found that most Italians and Spanish people were indeed around our build. (I'm actually of Italian descent myself). I'm planning on getting a job as an airline pilot in the next few months, so regular pilgrimages there to find clothes isn't so out of the question since the fare will be free haha. Anyways, in the meantime, are there retails you know of who specialize in importing such clothing? Also, are Armani suits sold in America cut differently for Americans as most European clothing exporters tend to do?

yoox.com carries many European brands. Probably some of the items fit your budget.

Even in Italy he'd be buying the smallest sizes with the posted sizes. At least for jackets etc. OTOH he'd have racks of choices .

I'm a bit under 5'8. I weight 200 (I am not cut but not fat). I lift weights. My chest is about 42 inches. Where do I buy a dress shirt I can untuck?

Good luck finding any small Armani in the US. If you are lucky enough to be a 38 then maybe but if you are a 36 forget about it. And it ain't gonna be a Short in either

Precisely the same measurements as the OP. For button-downs on a budget, Express' Fitted (not "modern fit&quot shirts are cut pretty slim. Also, Ben Sherman SOHO cut is quite slim.

5'7", 145 lbs, 38" chest and 29" waist with 30" inseam, but very large thighs.

I've decided that MTM is the only way to go in terms of shirts for me. If I had the money I'd go MTM with my trousers as well, but GAP's 29x30 straight legs seem to fit me just fine for now.

Damn slim, I'm 5'7" and 125 and I could barely get my forearms into the thing in S. Once it was on, it fit amazing, but I was afraid I was going to pop the seams anytime I moved my arms.

I'm more than twice your age and just figured out that there were solutions. Pretty close to the same size, although I would say maybe 37" chest and 28" inseam. 135-140 lbs. I'm a runner, no problem with the thighs.

Shirts: I've converged on slim-fit, usually non-iron (sorry, SF) shirts, sized by neck and sleeve. Shop the sales. BB 14.5x32 fits me perfectly, or at least to my satisfaction. Lands End is somewhat cheaper, not quite as nice, and the sleeves are just enough shorter to notice the difference.

My biggest problem is finding trousers with a rise that is short enough. Invariably, my belt drops to my true waist, and everything has sagged by 1-3 inches. Even though it was not a perfect option, I was able to get trousers (chinos and jeans) that fit well via Lands End custom -- which is no longer available. If anyone has advice about where someone like me can get trousers that fit, including MTM, I'd love to have it. Thanks.
