Picked one up from a local Chinese market. Bizarre, but not bad (Imagine fruit+nuts+garlic) Anyone else tried these?

can't deal with the smell.

Durian is awesome. The smell can get to you sometimes, but the taste is great. If you can't get past the smell, find somewhere in Chinatown or whatever Asian area around you that sells Durian smoothies.

There's a pho place near me that makes the smoothies, and that's been my only experience with it. The initial taste I liked, but the lingering aftertaste got me. Finished about half of it and gave up.

My family loves this stuff. It's great. The aftermath shitting is horrible.

There must be different types.

I had some in Hawaii.

It taste like an onion but had the consistency of mashed potato. I could not eat it.

Being Vietnamese, you would think I've had it but the smell has always just been so repulsive, I never actually got to it.

My parents ate it all the time when I was growing up. The smell was so off-putting to me as a child that it was difficult to get past as an adult. But now I enjoy it. The texture is unreal.

Was in Thailand for a wedding and some of the local guests got me to try it for a laugh, I quiet enjoyed it. It was pre-peeled and individually packed portions which may have done away with a bit of the smell.

Can't handle it. It just tastes like rotten onions to me.

tasted it once and didn't like it. the smell isn't so bad for me, maybe because we used to have that around the house when I was a kid. what we do to 'control' the smell is freeze those suckers.

Love the stuff! Got addicted to it on an extended surf trip to Bali ages ago. As my grandfather used to quip in a different context, once you've got past the smell, you've got it licked.
