I could imagine this being enormously influential to Gareth Pugh and the production designers of "The Fifth Element".

I wonder if those people jeering in the second clip had any idea of what kind of show they were about to see.

I am not a huge fan of Klaus Nomi. I was aware of him before he got "big". I am mildly acquainted with his then musical director who was also a member of the New York band, The Mumps, which flaunted Lance Loud, the first openly homosexual man on reality TV.

Another musical performer in this sort of vein was Jobriath.

Also, an AIDS victim and very campy persona--Morrissey is fixated with him. He even re-released all of Jobriath's albums on his own record label.
