Best first or business class on a plane? - Page 4

Qantas, Air NZ & South Africa Air have good business service intercontinental long-haul. All pretty middling domestically. Korean Air can be great to and from the States, but from Asia to Europe secondary-market, they might be using old equipment, similar to Pan Am seats of yore. Austrian Airlines wins unique wine list. Air France okay. Kingfisher nice. Emirates is over-the-top. Never flown Singapore.

Lan Chile and Continental business-first also good. Delta's new lie-flat triple seven is very comfortable, however the configuration makes looking out the window, or reading by it, challenging. Who cares about the booze and grub, as long as the seat in comfy enough to hit the ground running.

Not for me, but definitely for my friend who is a lot larger. The seat is 22" wide and when converted as bed, is 33" wide.

Christ, hope to be lucky enough one day to be able to spend a couple of thousand on a few hours of my life. (srs)

Really? I don't have much experience with Virgin. From what I recall from photos, you're pretty skinny so those seats must be tiny.

Neither do I, I did decide to fly them once just to give it a shot. It just seemed a bit claustrophobic.

Well that genre of business/executive whatever it is seating I'm not the biggest fan of. I don't know why the little cubicle thing became so big. Granted most of the time I don't find it too narrow but I don't think being able to see the other passengers is a bad thing. We're sort of becoming antisocial enough as it is. I kind of liked the old concept of business which was just wider seats and more leg room. At least with the cubicles you have more room for your legs but I do agree that it can be claustrophobic. I have only flown coach on virgin so I cannot compare their business with that of AF or something like that.

Emirates hands down. Did it once and now I become sad whenever I fly anything else.

a few airlines, most notably BA, have configurations with walls between the passengers in business, but with two seats in the middle with no wall. a few times I have had the middle two seats to myself, and had the walls up on the sides, giving me an area the size of the inside of a minivan to myself. that is a very nice way to fly, in my opinion.

+1. Singapore Air also said to be good. Delta Business Elite to London Gatwick is pretty good.

AFAIK, the American AAdvantage guard is the only card that lets you earn miles for lifetime status. I think you get lifetime platinum if you rack up 2 million. Great perk.

You talking about this? https://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/s...ILY_AADVANTAGE I was looking for cards where you get like 1 mile for every dollar or something similar. There is also these http://www.creditcards.com/airline-miles.php

I'm not a big fan of it either. I actually prefer flying Business on my airline as opposed to First if I am traveling with someone, mostly because our First class seats are more like pods where you are separated away from someone. As GT mentioned the Business class seats face each other with the barrier in the middle that can be raised/lowered if desired.
