Windows 7 Help

While I can send email out, with files attached, and my internet backup on the new Asus works fine, it won't let Explorer or Firefox upload to Photobucket nor will it upload to Flip Share. Turned off everything in terms of fire wall I can find, both in 7 and Trend. No go. Any ideas from our resident tech guys?

Not answering the OP question, but I also have a windows 7 problem. Friggin iPod doesn't get recognized in win 7 64 bit. can't seem to find an answer on the interweb.

Have you tried using XP Mode? Not sure if it would work since you would probably have to import your library into the virtual machine.

Mine works fine in W7 64. I would keep playing with it. I have 3 ipods of different vintages and its found and worked with them all.

XP mode is kind of kludgy. and only if your machine is able to run it.

Are you sure your not using the 64-bit internet explorer? I kept 'accidentally' using it, which sucked because its not always 100% compatible with some websites (anything using flash for example).

This is more than just i-explorer. Firefox won't upload either, nor will Flip Share, the software that comes with the Flip video camera. I'm thinking of installing an FTP client just to see what that does.

Are you sure its a W7 problem and not a router issue? My router does plenty of wacky shit.

So, you can't upload files to any website? Try resetting your router. If that fails, contact your ISP.

Hmm, we have five machines on this router, our two notebooks, a desktop, and our two netbooks. The other machines (like this notebook) are working just fine. It's only the netbooks and only the netbooks with certain programs. As I've said, I can attach a file to an email, and that uploads fine. So it will upload, just not through the programs I've mentioned.

I find that the solution to 99% of internet issues is resetting your router and/or modem, a few times if necessary.

Is the problem machine the only one running W7?

That's what I'm saying, except it's two machines. We just got his/her Asus netbooks. I figure it's some new hell from W7, have W7 firewall turned off, Trend firewall turned off, but still can't seem to get the listed programs through.

I would check the windows firewall settings. IIRC win 7 was pretty tight out of the box. If those services are using ports to connect vs just http, it might be being blocked via windows firewall, instead of the router.

Under control panel, system and security, windows firewall, allowed programs.
