20 Days to lose 10

In 20 days I'm gonna be on a cruise with fellow college students and I need to lose a little weight before I can walk around confidently shirtless...

Normally I work out about 3 times a week. I'm not a serious weight trainer but just enough stay in decent shape. However, 3 months ago, in an intense game of tennis, I dislocated my right shoulder. Since this episode I haven't been in the gym once. I started out losing weight as a result of this but eventually started gaining due to relaxing my diet(poor choice). I'm using this cruise as a jumping off point for restarting my health "habits". I'm gonna sum this up pretty easily so its not so confusing.

What I need:

1. Tips on nursing my shoulder back to health.

2. Dietary plans: Normally I cut out sugars and complex carbs and consist on a diet of proteins and simple carbs (rice and beans). This has worked before but does anyone have any better suggestions.

3. Fat Burning Supplements: I want to jump start my weight loss in order to be in shape for the cruise. "Vitamin Shoppe employee" suggested the new Hydroxycut Black....any opinions on this or any other fat burning supplement.

4. Workouts that fit a 2 week or so plan. What has helped you out in similar situations.

My "stats":

Age: 20
Weight: 177
Height: 5' 11"

I thought about taking a pic but somehow that doesn't seem quite necessary. However if for some reason there is a need for this I can.

Cut out all soda and milk and other sugary drinks in place of water and juice only. That alone ought to knock off a few pounds (and it will be healthier, too).

Buy a heavy bag. Box, jump rope and run. That's what I'd do if I were you. EDIT: Opps I see you have a bad shoulder. Probably shouldn't box then, haha.

Thats always a wise choice.

Ya I don't think that a punching bag would be good. But perhaps it would strengthen my shoulder? Who knows.

Milk is better for you than juice. If I were you, I'd mostly drink water and occasionally drink whey (which, to the best of my knowledge, contains all the best nutrients in milk).

But wouldn't you say milk is gonna make me gain weight?

Well said. I wanted to lose a little bit of weight 9 months ago and cut out all of the above except switched from 2% to nonfat milk. I lost 5-10lbs just doing that. I still drink nonfat milk and, of course, beer.

Which brings up another concern...I drink about once a week. Beer...Blue Moon to be exact and I'm pretty sure that is hefty amount of carbs and calories.

Yeah it is... sigh...

Oh also, reduce salt intake... that'll help you retain less water and is the fastest way to lose a small bit of weight.

This helped me a lot. Scroll down for nutrition ideas: http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com/6packabs.htm

I lost ten pounds by getting sick in India. It only took 2 days.

Here's what to do:

1) Contact someone in India. Get them to bottle a 2L bottle's worth of tap water.
2) Have them pick up some street meat while they are out. Preferably from a village.
3) Package and send airmail.
4) Should arrive within 7 days. That leaves you 2 weeks to get sick and lose 10 pounds.
5) Eat the kebab and wash it down with all 2L of water.
6) On day 3 or 4 post-meal start taking medication to recover from fever.
7) You are 10 pounds lighter with a few days to spare. Hit the gym to gain back some muscle mass before the cruise.

Thank me later.

I lost over 30 lbs when I got typhoid.

Seriously - this shit works. There is a goldmine sitting there for someone who can give Indian food/water-bourne diseases to American people in a controlled manner. "Lose 20lbs in a month" will no longer be a false promise.

Maybe a little, that's why I recommended drinking whey in place of milk before the cruise. But in general, drinking milk and water is good.

Serious question, what do you look like after losing a lot of weight due to illness? Do you lose much more muscle than fat?

Think heroin chic. Your grandmama will hate it, but your lil mama will love it.
