+1. Anything remotely math-related is great half-asleep. I chalk it up to being so close to the wake/sleep boundary that you start to go into dreamland a bit and your creativity spikes. Works for me anyhow.

Agreed. I've only pulled them when I've absolutely needed to finish a paper, because I don't need my energy/acuity for it when I'm done. But one of my roommates routinely pulls all-nighters studying for exams which I think is completely retarded.

For some reason, I never had the need to pull all-nighters in school. They only began when I started to work.

Thanks for the tips. I got through the work faster than I thought it'd take and got to bed just a bit later than usual.

Shouldn't have put it off as I did! My procrastination problem will end up killing me one day.
