Has anyone else started getting free magazines?

In the past year unsolicited subscriptions to several magazines have begun showing up at my house. It started with GQ, then Entertainment Weekly, then my wife started getting Esquire the other day -- Someone must think she's a boy. I assume that these magazines, hurting for circulation and ad revenue, have begun to buy lists or partner with certain retailers or credit cards to pad their circulation numbers. Is this happening to anyone else and does anyone know who is partnering with who?

I got Details for 1.5 years for free, this was before I had any Conde Nast purchases or subscriptions.

Lands' End signed me up for Martha Stewart Living. They sent a nice note that said if I did not want Martha, I could have a $15 check instead.

I've been getting free US Weekly for the past year or so, but yesterday they emailed me with a $54 renewal fee. Guess I'll have to somehow manage without knowing the latest gossip about Jon and Kate...

I suspect GQ was because I opened a J Crew card. I've seen a lot of cross promotions in the past year on the web site.

I get sent obscure trade-specific publications, but never magazines such as GQ, Esquire, etc.

I've been getting Rolling Stone for free for a couple of years now. No idea why.

I was given Marc Ecko's Complex for free. Nice contrast with the Details I subscribe to, so I'm not complaining.

I started getting Kipplingers, of all things, and it took several phone calls to track down a middleman who identified my purchase of an art poster/reproduction as the link. I asked them to cancel and they did, assuring me that they did not have my cc info and that I'd never be billed. Still, it felt intrusive.
