I have a fairly narrow heel and my Marlowes don't do that.

Or very low insteps? That's odd.

i see this happen when the shoes are too small rather than too large.

The shoe is marked 10D, though it's just a bit longer than a 9.5D. It also fits a little snug around the arch.

You mean underneath? Because on top, there's a gap between the facings even though you've got them somehow pulled in enough to create that gaping. Maybe you have narrow heels?

I wear an 11 in most all shoes...Alden, C&J, etc...Including the equivalent of 11 in Weston and Lobb...I had the Darlton wingtips in both an 11 and a 10.5, I happily kept the 10.5's been wearing them regularly, no issues...Peac,

Just received a pair of US 9.5D RL Darlton (Marlow). I'm normally somewhere between a US 9E and 9.5D, and these Darltons are most definitely a half size too long. Too bad, since they're gorgeous shoes. - Keith
