Nordstrom Experience - Page 4

FWIW, went into the Stanford Shopping Center Nordstroms today in between business meetings, just to browse and kill some time.  Bloomingdales was closed until, I believe, 1:00p for inventory (I guess Mondays are slow....).

Lots of so-so, over-priced stuff... and then, the sale rack....

A fully canvassed Canali 2 button suit, from a birdseye fabric in the perfect shade of what I refer to as "FU blue" ("yes, I know it's not navy - why, because FU, I'm the boss").  "Regular" price $1,895, on sale at $795.

Yes, please, and I didn't mind getting stiffed for $60 for alterations.

Pics will follow later, if there is interest.

Recently went to Nordstrom in Vegas (Fashion Mall) and it was not a great experience. The staff was almost running after me to sell me stuff...

Or if I said "just looking", they seemed pissed... Went to Saks just after, a completely different experience. Relax, easy, smiling people, really nice.

Bought nothing because all is overpriced...

FWIW I've always gotten great service at Nordstrom.  I don't always find what I want though, and that's the rub. The sales staff are there to sell you what they have.  So it's up to you to know what you want and don't want.

sure, post 'em!

I find that, in this economy, the objective is the sale, rather than service.  If I worked on commission, and with retail sales being a bit depressed, I may also be a bit more aggressive.  That's why I shop online, or at certain stores where I know that the service will be great, or where the service doesn't matter - examples of each are CT, SF or certain ebay vendors for the first, Leather Soul BH for the second, and Nord's rack for the third.

Nordstrom in south coast plaza wow its amazing how bad the sales look when you browse around and for some reason they insinuate that you want every shirt they offer
