thinning at the hairline - recommendations?

So I'm sick of watching helplessly while my once-full hairline takes the Long March all the way to the back of my neck, thinning out the whole way - has anyone here had any success reversing moderate hair loss with any of the following items or items-in-combination:

minoxidil
rogaine
propecia
nioxin
denial
etc.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated, as the top of my head is starting to feel cold.

Propecia is great, I highly recommend buying Proscar and splitting them though. Propecia is 1 mg Finasteride, Proscar is 5 mg, but they cost roughly the same per pill.

How much should I expect to pay? There seems to be a slight chance that I'll grow breasts; is that reversible?

You're unlikely to re-grow any hair with finasteride, but it has a good chance of maintaining what you have. Rogaine might re-grow but any hair gained while using it will be lost should you grow tired of applying it. I pay £5 per strip of ten generic Proscar tablets. The only way to restore your hairline is with a transplant, which is something that carries a certain stigma, but the technology has moved on since the bad old days of plugs and results of a good transplant are basically undetectable as being anything but natural.

If you're taking nandrolone or Dianabol or anything similar, stop immediately.

As I understand it, NO product will help you regrow or maintain hair in the temple/upper forehead regions... however hair on the top of the scalp can be helped by those medications. The only solution for the temples is that hair-insertion surgery that can be done on the cheap in say Thailand.

What kind of hair loss are we talking about here? If your hairline is receding, man up and live with it. It just makes you look grown up and you probably won't go all the way bald. If it's the bald spot at the crown, generic Rogaine is less than 20 bucks a month and works as well as anything for most guys.

Whatever you do, once your hair starts receding, don't start trying to cover it up with combover or compensating some other way like letting the rest of your hair grow long.

Knew this guy a few years ago who wore a hat a lot and had long hair coming out of the hat down to his shoulders. Looked like he had a full head of hair. But in reality, the whole top of his head was shiny bald, so that without the hat he looked like a clown. Awful.

Unfortunately there is no way of telling how far it will progress. For most men, temple recession is the first place where male pattern baldness strikes, and you can never be sure that the crown won't follow. I do agree though that a bit of recession is not necessarily a terrible thing. It can look more masculine than a very low, adolescent hairline.

Finasteride and Rogaine can both help at the temples/hairline, they are just less effective there than they are at the crown/vertex, and were originally only tested for that region of the scalp (and therefore the marketing literature could not claim effectiveness at the frontal region). Getting a transplant on the cheap in Thailand could be the worst mistake a man could make. If taking that route extensive research is essential.

+100. this tends to make it more noticeable and look worse.

I had hair like Jim Morrison or Mick Jagger from about 14 to 34 then started losing it fast. I now get a buzz cut every weekend. Only way to go.

A small dab of your own urine applied to the affected area roughly five times a day is a time-honored cure.

Yeah, and keep the masturbation to a minimum.

two words... Comb Over.. jk My friend actually takes Propecia, and he said that it took awhile but it really works. He was pretty much bald but now his hair is coming back thick. But its expensive.
