I was so surprised at Ebay's prompt and appropriate response to a scam that I thought it worth retelling.
Seller with good but not perfect feedback lists a NWT Loro Piana jacket for a BIN of $600. Seller responds promptly and adequately to several questions. I do the BIN and make PP payment after he promises to UPS ship and send me tracking # within 24 hours. He then goes radio silence for 2 days. I then check the listing and its been removed from Ebay. I then check his seller name and he is no longer a registered user.
I call Ebay to see what I can find out about the Seller. Ebay rep says that I should just wait 4 days (its only been 2 days since I did the BIN) I push her gently and she says, OK, let me put you on hold. She comes back, says she filled out the forms and to check my PP account - I do so and the full amount ($600) has been refunded by Ebay. I thank her and hang up.
Total time on phone (including lengthy hold) 26 minutes. Result - full refund. I was pretty impressed. Of course, YMMV
