What is the 'athletic' size?

I'm of the opnion that men of a more 'athletic' build tend to look better in suits, particularly ones that fit well. But what is that size? And what's the drop? I was thinking 44 chest, 32 waist, would that be far off?

I'm going to put some muscle on over the next fifteen months or so, obviously that means putting on some fat but I'll cut after, and was wondering what to aim for. My present jacket size is 38 and my trousers are 32 so it's pretty standard.

Well a 12 inch drop will make RTW suits difficult to come by.

Yeah I know, good excuse for MTM! Plus I'd have plenty of time to save up!

The rail-thin frame looks best in suits, IMO. Who said being a pussy didn't have advantages...

I am 41/31...usually 40/32 off the rack with minor pants alterations works OK...flat front pants + double vents only

I'm a 47/31 or 32. I looked like a goddamn 55 gallon drum in my suit.

Working out too much?

I'm a 42 - 32, but I usually work with 38 (short) jackets, because my shoulder width is in proportion to my small frame, and 40 and 42 jackets are typically 18"- 19" from point to point, which makes me look like I left the fucking hanger in the jacket when I put it on. The actual chest for most "size" 38 jackets is 41 to 42" anyway (ridiculously volumnuous for an actual 38" chest in my opinion), so it works out.

12"+ drop at least to look really athletic, but yes, you will have trouble getting stuff to fit. I'm about 43" chest and 30" waist now and I always get compliments on how athletic I look. Ur lat taper from the back side is what SCREAMS athleticism as too many guys look blocky nowadays. Women love to see that V.

I agree with previous poster though on how skinnier guys look better in suits. Hands down. I'd rather look good with my clothes off then clothes on though.....just my 2c.

disagree. this is pretty much a bodybuilder look. not necessarily an athletic look

How is it so hard to have a suit properly tailored for a big drop if they managed to make big, muscle-bound actors like a young Sean Connery and Charles Bronson look badass in suits?
