FTFY Things like this are why I hate Duke. That column was written 6 years ago, and the NCAA still has not ruled or commented on the case. I hate the NCAA about the same as I hate Duke.

Yeah, Dickie V loves Duke, but can you really say that he doesn't love other teams? He compliments every goddamn player on every goddamn team in his over-the-top ways. Does he do it more for Duke than other teams? Probably. I'm not totally sure because I don't watch many other games. But when Duke is losing, or even when not, he certainly doesn't refrain from lauding the opposing teams. I think he's just a very loud and very obvious scapegoat.

Yeah, I'm sure you started hate Duke because Corey Maggette should have been declared ineligible two years after the fact. Oh, and "things like that," whatever that means. Would you be satisfied if the title game loss were stripped from the books? Does anyone really care about that stuff?

NCAA is retarded, mainly in the patronizing and holier-than-thou attitude with which they try to pass off all of their stupid decisions.

^No, I hated Duke well before that. It's simply an illustration of the kind of slobbering favoritism that creates ill will from others. Would I be satisfied if they were stripped? Well, I'd certainly enjoy it. If you went there then you ought to like them, cheer for them and defend them.

I really think a lot of the Duke hate can be attributed to the UNC propaganda machine. Guys like Stuart Scott and Kenny Smith don't make any attempt to hide their hatred for Duke, in fact they openly celebrate it. Hating Duke is the cool thing to do and most sports fans are sheep who eagerly jump on the bandwagon. baaaaaaa

Sorry to spoil your imaginary world where all thinking original people love Duke, but I've hated them for a couple of decades now. Don't worry, I also hate UNC and pretty much the entire ACC. My view of college basketball is very centered and thought out. The latest ACC homer isn't going to have any impact on it.

and there's no reason to hate duke this year: they're not very good despite the lofty ranking. it's a lovable team of overachievers like some of the wojo-era teams that should get trounced in the postseason

Okay, actually talking about this year's tourney. Syracuse--the supposed best team in the country--is going into the NCAAs with two straight losses after laying an egg against Georgetown. Kansas finished strong last week, and finally is showing up in the second half against TT. S. Carolina looks to be beating Bama, which gives Kentucky another game against one of the two teams that beat them this year.

I don't expect everyone to love Duke but I can't imagine why an adult would feel compelled enough to come on a clothing forum and express their hatred. That's the kind of stuff I expect from 16 year olds on the ESPN.com "Conversation" section. Don't you think it's time to grow up a little?

^I didn't bring up Duke hatred in this thread (I believe a Duke grad did), I merely commented upon it. It's a thread about college basketball. Your line of argument is solely "people who hate Duke are sheep and children". Athletic loyalties are all about passion. It's about guys wearing cheese heads or Viking helmets. I would think someone who is a defender of the home of the Cameron Crazies would understand something about that, but apparently not. As usual, Duke fans can only deal with mindless worship. Please notice, I talked about actual games from today in the post above, but you decided to continue this conversation. Do you even watch basketball? If so, then talk about it.

This is incredibly cliche. People whose entire self worth revolves around a sports team are pathetic IMO. People whose world revolves around a team they hate are even more pathetic.


You clearly know little about Duke if you think the Cameron Crazies are representative of the student body as a whole. At least the crazies are college students -- If a 35 year old Duke alum came on here and ranted about how much they hate Carolina I'd be embarrassed for them too.

I was surprised by the losses of Syracuse and Villanova today. Just a week or so ago there was talk of Nova potentially being a #1 seed in the NCAA Tourney, now with their recent losses that's off the table.

Depending on how other teams perform, Syracuse may have lost their hold on a one seed, too.

I can't see Syracuse slipping to #2. They'll be a one.
