Korben - It takes a good heart and a kind soul to step up and do the right thing as you did.

I've read the Ugly story probably 20 times, and it gets me every single one.

I get back in, put the little guy in the passenger seat (its making the worst sounds I have ever heard). Luckily my son had left his gym bag in the back and towel was hanging out, so I wrapped him up. Pulled a U turn in the intersection and went to the animal hospital a few blocks away. Long story short a ruined suit, two missed morning meetings, and about $2,000 in vet bill so far, I have a new little cat I'm gonna call.... Rudy. The little thing lost one leg completely but the vet salvaged the other. I thought they would just put it down but they asked me if I wanted them to try and save it and well I couldn't say no. He is resting at the hospital for now and they told me in 2 weeks I may be able to bring him home.

And to top it all off I am allergic to cats, starting allergy shots.

Stories like this make waking up a bit more meaningful. Makes me think the world isn't THAT bad of a place after all.

Props to you. If you'd had it put down it would have been far better than letting it suffer, but the fact that you took it in and had the vet save it is really, really cool. It's nice to know there are some compassionate people left in the world.

I hate cats, but I have to admit: This story got to me.

+ motherfucking 1. I've always had a soft spot for ugly cats/dogs for precisely the reason in this story. I've always wanted to get a cat with like 3 legs and 1 eye or something. Now I'm gonna have to. Gonna name him Ugly in honor of that poor little cat.

dam man! people asking why i am crying in front of my computer!
If you read that story and DON'T cry you should probably be in an institution.

I dunno, the ear suckling kinda grossed me out.

But kudos to Korben. What did the vet say when you brought it in?

On another note

You're a good man, better than most. I would be lying if I said I would have stopped had I been in the same position as you that morning.

True story:

Our little one is in bed and he hears a siren in the distance. He can't sleep, obviously disturbed. The siren fades away, but still he can't sleep. We talk for a few minutes, and he tells me that when he hears the sirens, it means that someone's in trouble or distress.

I agree, but tell him that the siren comes from a police car, or an ambulance, or a fire truck. Yes, someone's in distress, but the siren means that help is on the way. Be glad for the siren, because things are being put right again, one person or kitten at a time.

Korben: I hope Rudy the Kitten comes through and you'll post pictures once everything heals up.

Just left the vet office.. The little bugger still has IV's going and is pretty out of it. Expected to make a good recovery. I will try to get some pics when I can.

When I went in it was really odd. I just said take hime or save him or something, don't really remember the nurse grabbed him. I just kind of waited around as long as I could in my wet blood stained suit, got really odd looks by people coming in with their little purse dogs.
