"Haters"? Really? He asked what people thought and he got constructive criticism. It happens all the time. As kdsvs points out there is plenty of criticism in the Members' Pictures thread as well as the many Critique My ______ threads.

Sorry, no disrespect meant to any members. I think I made that post at quarter to three last night/this morning.

He has effectively been told he looks like a schmuck (post 181). You think that's what people who post "Critique My ______ threads" are looking for?
I guess those with a negative opinion should have just shut up and let this guy keep looking ridiculous. Btw, D2K lost his cool many times and tried to throw some insults, but he just wasn't very good with them.

We're all trying to help, but we end up doing it differently. Some end up being the 'immature jackasses', the others end up as patron saints. So what happens now? D2K splits the forum right down the middle. I say he was sent by FL to sabotage this forum. Edit: I meant Fedora Lounge, whoops.

Who is LF?

Not so much "effectively," he was absolutely called a schmuck. Fine, I missed that post. But the heart of the commenting has been done in a constructive way. My opinion, of course.

I think it's far too simple to dismiss anyone who disagrees with you as a "hater". That is what I usually see done. I hate how that word is used now.

Dad obviously has good taste.

If you take nothing else away from your experience with this and your other thread remember that people will happily give you their judgments wrapped in opinions but their motives will usually be jealous, or at a minimum careless. They will pretend they have no such approach and that you operate under that same projected burden that they do. They will maintain this position until you are driven to despondency. Such is the victory of the common voice bringing down that of talent and reason.

Further, you will constantly meet people who tell you that you are too young, too old, too short, too tall, too dark, too light, too smart, too... You only have one life, you can let other's whose lives are potentially in shambles live it for you, or you can do what you want and damn the consequences. It's up to you.

"Dandy" is just another word for self assured individualist. If you hear the music you need apologize to no one.

I'm the one that said he looks like a schmuck, and if you read the rest of that exchange you will see that it was one of the most constructive exchanges on this thread and that d2k took it quite well because it was meant to be constructive and he realized that. If my brother or my best friend or a colleague dressed in a way that looked silly and asked me my opinion I would tell them that they look like a schmuck because it's a word that quite clearly gets the point across.

I give a lot of props to d2k for posting his picture up and asking for commentary - that took a lot of balls. It also takes a lot of balls to wear suits and fedoras all the time at age 19. All I was trying to tell him is that if he just made a few adjustments he wouldn't look like a schmuck anymore, that he would actually look quite good - even with his fedora.
The fedora's a bit much but I'm sure you've heard that tons of times.

Like A Harris said, slim everything down and you'll look less like a gangster.

I consider this to be one of the best posts we have had in a long time. I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments and suggestions.

I'm kind of late to this but I would just say get a younger looking suit and a smaller hat and it would like a lot better. By younger looking suit, I mean something that is cut much slimmer and maybe a different color like really light grey.

I agree you are too skinny for a wide brimmed hat

I know. I realized more people would see my point if I did not put out insults. About 4 years ago I lived in LA with a lot of juvenile hoodlums so we would say dumb stuff like that attack on westside he didn't deserve.(no excuse) So I guess thats what that came from. By the way I think that Guy from Taiwan has great style.

being a true gentleman is not about wearing the right attire. it goes beyond that.
